WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for The White Lotus season 3, episode 4.

A popular character death theory for Greg Hunt, the former husband of Jennifer Coolidge's Tanya McQuoid, was alive and hiding in Thailand as a wealthy man named Gary, suspicions immediately arose that the dead body was somehow connected to him.

With Natasha Rothwell's Belinda Lindsey also returning from the truth about Tanya's death after initially hearing that she died by suicide, revealing that Greg had evaded being questioned by Italian authorities and is now living off Tanya's fortune – the same fortune that Tanya had pledged to use to help Belinda open up her own spa and wellness center. The dead body likely has something to do with Greg – and could even be him.

Greg Can't Keep Getting Away With It In The White Lotus

He Should Be In Prison For Trying To Have Tanya Killed

Greg/Gary (Jon Gries) drinking whiskey during the yacht ride in The White Lotus Season 3 Ep 4

Greg has been a snake in the grass since The White Lotus season 1 and finally sealed the deal of his deception by marrying Tanya before the events of season 2. Greg tried to have Tanya killed by colluding with a friend named Quentin, who took Tanya out on his yacht with some friends – a trip that Tanya was never meant to (and never actually did) return from. Even though Tanya discovered the murder plot and delivered one of the most meme-worthy moments in The White Lotus, "These gays, they're trying to murder me!", she accidentally fell to her death trying to escape.

After seasons 1 and 2, Greg escaped scot-free after fleeing from Sicily. The White Lotus season 3 shockingly reveals in its first episode that he's been in Thailand for at least a year living in a mansion with his girlfriend, Chloe, a potential escort he met in Dubai. Chloe and "Gary's" relationship is entirely transactional, as Chloe expresses interest in using Greg's credit card and eyeing other male resort guests.

It seems like Belinda has to be the one to expose "Gary" for who he truly is.

Now that Belinda has discovered Greg after initially coming to The White Lotus Thai Resort to educate herself on their wellness techniques, it seems like she has to be the one to expose "Gary" for who he truly is.

Greg Is The Character Most Connected To Different White Lotus Storylines

He's At The Center Of Season 3's Plot While Hiding In The Background

Bringing Greg back into the world of The White Lotus season 3 is extremely clever and makes for some instantly compelling tension for those who are still trying to get over Tanya's shocking and tragic death. Greg is undoubtedly an evil man and deserves to be behind bars for what he tried to do to Tanya, even though his murder plot didn't go exactly as planned. Greg is the clear antagonist in The White Lotus season 3 who should be brought to justice one way or another. Belinda, who should do the right thing, will likely sound the alarm – if she's not killed first.

Jason Isaacs' Nude The White Lotus Season 3 Scene Is Not What I Expected, Even After The Ratliff Family's Wild Premiere Twist

The brief nude scene from Jason Isaacs' Timothy Ratliff character in The White Lotus season 3, episode 4 was hilarious and wildly unexpected.

Interestingly, Greg is becoming more of a key character outside his backstory and context with Tanya in The White Lotus season 3. Other than encountering Belinda, he's mixing in with Chelsea and Rick rather reluctantly through Chloe, and he hosts them all along with the Ratliff family on his yacht.

Greg surprisingly feels very central to the story, which means his potential death could impact the entire season.

He chats with the desperate and spiraling Tim, who may need Greg's help "disappearing" in Thailand like he did, and makes it possible for Saxon and Lochlan to party on his yacht, all while he keeps quiet in the background. Greg surprisingly feels very central to the story, which means his potential death could impact the entire season.

How Greg Could Die In The White Lotus Season 3

It Could Be Completely Random Like Tanya's Accidental Death

The most likely scenario in which Greg dies in The White Lotus season 3 would be if he is confronted by police officers and tries to escape. If Greg puts up a fight, resists arrest, or flees, the Thai police could shoot and kill him, especially if he has a gun himself, which I have a feeling he absolutely does. The shooting scene at the beginning of The White Lotus season 3, episode 1 could have something to do with Greg shooting his way out of the resort after Belinda calls the cops on him.

The Ratliff Family's Downfall Is Inevitable In The White Lotus Season 3, But I'm Glad This Character Might Actually Get A Happy Ending From It

The downfall of Timothy Ratliff and his family seems inevitable in The White Lotus season 3 but one character may not be as damaged from the blow.

It would be hard to believe Belinda would try to kill Greg herself but he could try to kill her and be stopped in the process by a staff member like Gaitok or even Pornchai. Gaitok has already shown courage in trying to stop the robbers from escaping and could try to redeem himself after losing his gun.

Greg could die in a completely random and unforeseen way, which would ironically parallel Tanya's accidental death.

Pornchai, however, is the only character in The White Lotus season 3 who has expressed personal interest in Belinda, which could inspire some heroics on his end. Since it's The White Lotus, Greg could die in a completely random and unforeseen way, which would ironically parallel Tanya's accidental death.

Why Greg Might Not Die In The White Lotus Season 3

Hes The Biggest Villain Of The Franchise & Likely Has An Exit Strategy If Exposed

While most of The White Lotus season 3's viewers are rooting for Greg's demise, the series may keep him alive as a point of cultural criticism. The "rich white guy who keeps getting away with it" is a very plausible character outcome for Greg in The White Lotus season 3 and could extend his character into season 4. Every great series needs a villain, and he is by far the biggest one of the franchise. Belinda could try to bring Greg to justice with the help of the cops or the resort staff but Greg could get away, on the run and exposed.

No characters have died yet at the midpoint of The White Lotus season 3 but that is certainly about to change in the latter half of the HBO series.

If Greg's cover is blown, he could do something extreme, like hold Chloe hostage. Belinda can do some serious damage to upend "Gary's" comfortable life in Thailand but knowing him, he already has a code-red exit strategy and perhaps even another fake identity to fall into in another country. Greg may also have a friend in Timothy, who may also decide to abandon his family and run from the police so he doesn't have to face public humiliation and prison time after his money-laundering scheme was discovered in The White Lotus season 3.
