After so many years of the series, the characters on The Simpsons have pretty much seen it all. Although most episodes depict the family trying to navigate everyday trials and tribulations, the 'Treehouse of Horror' episodes see them facing life and death situations. Fans very much hope a Squid Game storyline may be on the cards for the next Halloween special.
The undeniable charm of The Simpsons is that the characters don't see eye to eye because they have such different personalities, ethical codes, and desires. This means individuals would use different tactics and strategies in Squid Game, but which character would come out on top?
Milhouse Van Houten
Although Milhouse is a highly entertaining character, he would be completely out of his depth in this situation. He is not particularly intelligent, athletic, or strong, and his optimistic and naive nature often leads him to believe other people will do the right thing.
Sadly, Milhouse would be unlikely to make it through the first game. He would be pushed and shoved in Red Light, Green Light, or his glasses would get broken leaving him unable to see. He would probably be hoping Bart would come back and save him, but he would be left waiting.
Homer Simpson
Although Homer does have some good qualities (he is very funny and loves his family), he does not have many skills that would help him in Squid Game. He is notoriously dim and lazy, meaning he would barely scrape through the first round.
However, it is his uncontrollable hunger that would get him eliminated. In the Honeycomb Shape round, he would not be able to control himself and would simply eat his (and others') honeycombs giving him no chance of making it through.
Marge Simpson
Marge is smart and fairly athletic, meaning she should have a really good chance in Squid Game. Although others (often her sisters) question why Marge is with Homer, she sees a charming and kind side of him that others do not.
However, it is a running theme in The Simpsons that Homer does hold Marge back from succeeding. In this instance, Homer would almost certainly doom not only himself but his wife too by eating her honeycomb as well as his own.
Nelson Muntz
Nelson is a strong child and, as a bully, shows little concern for the well-being of others most of the time. He would most likely thrive in some of the challenges, laughing at those who fail.
However, such behavior would not make Nelson a popular competitor and he would make some enemies during the games. When the lights go out in the dorm and a fight breaks out, Nelson would almost certainly be killed by someone who he had laughed at previously.
Lisa Simpson
Lisa is a complex character, whose high IQ would make her particularly good at strategizing and using logic to make the right decisions in ambiguous situations. She would undoubtedly have chosen one of the simple shapes in the Honeycomb Shapes round and would be set to go far in the games.
However, Lisa is not a strong or athletic child, and has been shown to struggle in sporty activities in numerous episodes of The Simpsons. She is also kind and would likely a team of underdogs in the Tug of War, meaning she would get eliminated at this stage.
Waylon Smithers
The most underrated character on The Simpsons, Waylon, is sensible and intelligent. However, he would be ing and carrying Mr. Burns through the games and, unfortunately for Waylon, Mr. Burns does tend to exploit his love.
Waylon would be eliminated in the Marbles game, in which he would either simply give his marbles to Mr. Burns, or (more likely) Mr. Burns would trick Waylon into giving him his marbles and leave Waylon to be eliminated, like Cho Sang-Woo and Abdul Ali.
Bart Simpson
Bart is so cheeky he is almost villainous, and it is a running theme in The Simpsons that he struggles to empathize with others. This would be advantageous in Squid Game, because he would not worry much about doing the right thing or saving anyone else.
He is also not one for playing by the rules and it is likely that he would cheat to get further in the games. However, Bart's demise would come round early if his arch-nemesis, Sideshow Bob, was in the games.
Sideshow Bob
Sideshow Bob has many skills that would serve him well in Squid Game: he is conniving, highly intelligent, and has no ethical code. Having spent a lot of time in jail over the years, he would also be familiar with the institutional setting and violence among inmates/ competitors.
Although Sideshow Bob has the potential to win the games, he only has one real motivation: to kill Bart. Sideshow Bob would happily sacrifice himself in order to achieve this goal, by tackling Bart in the game of Glass Hopscotch and dooming them both.
Mr. Burns
Mr. Burns is a complex and evil character, who loves money and power above all else. In Fact, no one would be surprised if Mr. Burns turned out to be Oh Il-nam's doppelganger: the elderly, rich man who holds the games for some kind of twisted and sadistic sport. He certainly doesn't need the money and he does take pleasure in the misfortune of others.
Waylon would get him through most of the games and, as a very elderly and frail person, he would also be heavily underestimated by his fellow competitors. However, when it came down to the final Squid Game, he would likely be taken out by his arch-nemesis.
Maggie Simpson
Maggie is an enigma. As a baby who (almost) never talks on the series, she is the character who fans know the least about. Other Squid Game competitors would not consider this baby a threat, but Maggie is not to be underestimated.
Somehow, Maggie is often the one saving The Simpsons in dangerous situations: she is cunning, mysterious, and (somehow) knows her way around a gun. A Squid Game showdown between her and Mr. Burns would be a perfect ending after the 'Who Shot Mr. Burns?' episodes of The Simpsons.
