Warning: Contains SPOILERS for the fall finale of Found. The fall finale of Found season 2 aired Thursday, November 21 on NBC and saw Gabi head to the high school to confront Sir. The crisis manger doesn't show up unprepared, with a flashback revealing that Lacey's mom gifted her brass knuckles as a teenager. While the credits roll before a face-off can ensue, Sir welcomes Gabi over the loudspeaker, implying that the situation panned out exactly as he'd hoped. Viewers will have to wait until January 16 to discover what transpires between the two, but Found's winter premiere is bound to be an eventful hour.
Outside of her complicated dynamic with Sir, Gabi's bond with Detective Mark Trent acts as one of the show's major sub-plots. It's revealed in the pilot that Trent and Gabi had a one-night stand, but never entered an official relationship. Although they show clear romantic feelings for one another, Trent's devotion to the law conflicts with the secret Gabi kept hidden in her basement. When speaking with ScreenRant about the fall finale, star Shanola Hampton its that she doesn't see a way forward for the will they/won't they couple. Check out Hampton's full quote below:
Shanola Hampton: I think that their love and their ion for finding missing people—Trent's moral com is high. We know that, right? And his ion for doing the right thing and finding the missing will always be there, and Gabi Mosely needs to have a person in the DD to work with. So I think that their working relationship will be intact. Romantically, I think that ship has sailed for a lot of reasons.
Gabi is in no place to be with a man. She has to do her own healing. And to bring Trent, who has been so good, into her mess and all of the things she has would just feel unfair to her. And I think she always is guarded about the people that she loves in protecting them, even if that means protecting them from her. I don't think that there's a path for it romantically, but in a working relationship, yes.
Gabi And Trent Would Clash As Romantic Partners In Found
Their moral comes don't align.
Gabi's moral com is one of the many reasons she's such an endearing character. Her desire to find missing people overlooked by law enforcement allows the audience to recognize that she has a kind heart. This is juxtaposed by Gabi keeping Sir trapped in her basement, and the revelation causes a massive divide between the crisis manager and Trent in Found season 2.

Found Season 3: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
NBC's thrilling procedural series Found has returned for its sophomore season, but will the Shanola Hampton-led show return for season 3?
With Gabi using Sir as an unofficial informant, it's up to viewers to decide whether her actions are justified. However, there's no question where Trent stands on the matter. He sees the world in black and white, while Gabi operates in shades of gray. They both share a desire to help those in need, but Gabi crosses lines that Trent will not. One follows the law, while the other follows their own belief system.
It's Difficult To Root For The Couple After Trent's Decision In Found Season 2
The detective tries to get Gabi arrested.
As previewed by Brett Dalton, Found season 2 forces Trent to choose between his feelings for Gabi and his devotion to the job. Despite a period of indecision, it was reasonable to assume that his love for the crisis manager would eventually win out. However, Trent reports Gabi's crime to his boss in season 2, episode 4, "Missing While Perfect," hoping to get her arrested. Mallory doesn't sign the warrant and states that her confession would be thrown out due to the traumatic circumstances. While nothing comes of Trent's attempt, Gabi deserves a partner who prioritizes her well-being and accepts her flaws after everything she's endured.
Found season 2 returns Thursday, January 16 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
