WARNING: This article includes SPOILERS for The Recruit season 2.

An assassin was hired to kill Owen and Lester in Netflix action series starring Noah Centineo picked up right where season 1 had left off, with Nichka killing Max in front of Owen. While Nichka was ready to kill Owen too so that there would be no one left to connect her to Max, the cavalry led by Dawn came to the rescue. However, Owen’s safety was not guaranteed, as Dawn had more than enough reasons to kill him on sight.

Noah Centineo’s The Recruit character was not surprised that Dawn considered killing him on the spot, but he offered her an assured mutual destruction deal. Dawn had enough information about Owen’s disastrous mission in Europe and cooperation with Max to get him fired or worse, whereas Owen also had information that could destroy Dawn. While Dawn agrees to Owen’s and lets him be rescued, she eventually betrays him and sends an assassin to kill him in South Korea.

Dawn Was Trying To Get Owen Killed Because He Found Out About Her Scheme

Dawn Was Making Money With Fake Operatives In Yemen In Season 1

Dawn hired an assassin – either a local or someone that she could get in South Korea – to kill Owen before he could return to the United States. This is because, during The Recruit season 1, Max told Owen about Dawn’s secret operation to make money with fake CIA operatives. Dawn ran a complex, risky “side hustle” in Yemen in which she would come up with fake operatives to get funds from the CIA, with the money actually going to herself and her allies.

Dawn Gilbane is played by Angel Parker.

Once Max told Owen about it, he became a huge liability to Dawn. This is why Owen offered Dawn a deal – in exchange for not telling the CIA what he discovered, Dawn would neither try to kill him nor expose what really happened with him and Max in Europe. While this seemed like a good enough deal for both, Dawn believed Owen was eventually going to expose her and assumed it would be easier to get him killed in Korea.

Why Dawn Also Tried To Get Lester Killed In The Recruit Season 2

Dawn Sent The Same Assassin Against Owen And Lester In Season 2

The Recruit does not immediately reveal that Dawn is the one who sent the assassin. However, when Lester was attacked by the same man, it became clear that someone from their inner circle was behind it. Lester had no idea about Dawn’s operation, but after he asked her about her informants, she wrongfully assumed that Owen had told him about her crimes. This is why Dawn also sent the assassin after Lester.
