If the internet has proven anything over the course of it's lifetime, it's that literally any person, place, thing, or idea can be made into a meme. The potential for memes is limitless, but there are some things that seem like they were just made to be memes. And Michael Scott, the utterly insufferable boss from the beloved sitcom The Office, is a character that falls into that category.

Michael Scott is kind of a walking meme all on his own, so it comes as no surprise that the internet has managed to transform some of his best, funniest, or most relatable moments into memes. So here are 10 Michael Scott memes that only true fans of The Office can fully understand.

A Glutton For Punishment

Well, if the popular consensus is anything to go by then whoever made this meme was in the right head space going into Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

And the real heartbreak of it is that either you were in pain because The Rise of Skywalker wasn't everything that you had hoped it would be, or you were in pain because you actually loved the movie itself but were heartbroken by the conclusion of the story. So well done Disney, crushing hearts and spirits for decades past now.

That's The Internet For You

The internet is a mysterious and confounding place. Not only can it draw you into the darkest depths of humanity in a way that you never imagined, but it has enabled the world to create an astounding network unlike anything most people could conceive of.

And of course, it is pretty much a constant failure in the simplest ways imaginable as well. We've all had the experience of seeing a social media post that somehow has four likes and two views, or 305 views and 20,000 comments, but that is just the apparent upside down reality we all have to live in.

Socializing

The interactions between adults and kids is truly mystifying on both ends of the spectrum. As children we're all baffled and uncomfortable at the thought of having to converse with adults that we barely know, but as adults we're all baffled and uncomfortable at the thought of having to converse with kids that we barely know as well.

But, for whatever god forsaken reason, we all trap ourselves in this endless cycle of awkwardness that has somehow become a part of our societal structure and everyone is too afraid to just take the plunge and stop forcing these horrific, living nightmare interactions.

A Quote To Live By

What better way to utilize something that is typically meaningless? Honestly, it's a little hard not to judge this meme just a tad, because clearly the clever lass who put this as her yearbook quote did it with the intention of it going viral like it did.

However with that said, it's still epic. We love a good treasure hunt and it's awesome that this girl gave that opportunity to her entire graduating class, and it's doubly awesome that we all get to enjoy it now that the yearbook Easter egg has been discovered and disseminated across the internet.

Run Michael Run

Now this is truly a meme that only Office fans will truly understand, because if anyone recalls correctly, Michael started off the run very strong, and then later exhausted himself to the point where he barely had the will to live any longer. There is an obvious life lesson to be learned there.

Which is, just keep running from your problems until it literally kills you. Or if you want to handle your problems like an actual mature adult you can face them head on instead of metaphorically or literally running away from them. Or even better, don't deal with your problems and don't run from them, just lay down like a sad gray rock and wait for life to run you over.

Plight Of The Capitalist Bourgeoisie

This one really hits close to home in this awful hangover period after Christmas. The thrill of buying gifts for the ones you love provides a wonderful holiday high, and then once that moment of gratitude is over and you're still out the hundreds of dollars that you spent on friends and family you truly realize how meaningless and frivolous it all was.

Aunt Becky will undoubtedly enjoy that iPhone X you got her, but it's hard to say whether that facial recognition software is worth not being able to make rent for the two months after Christmas.

The Thought That Counts

In all fairness to all of the LOLs that have been doled out when the sender has not been actually laughing out loud, if there is one thing that the internet should have taught us by now is that reactions are typically for the people around you, and it can feel downright creepy to laugh at nothing by yourself.

But, in a great twist of irony with this meme, Michael Scott is probably one of the few people who does literally laugh out loud at all of the things that he sees and hears on the internet.

Woman Yells At Cat

There are few analogies in this world that are perfect, but this very well may be one of them.

Jan is a perfect woman yelling in general, but she really transformed into The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong once she started dating Michael full time. And it should go without saying that Michael is a natural born confused cat.

Clearly Jan and Michael were not fated to be, however the fact that they so seamlessly fit into one of the most iconic meme formats of all time does show that they must have been star-crossed lovers in some way.

Sleep Is For The Weak

Are scenarios like this some kind of self-sustaining, self-fulfilling prophecy? Because everyone knows what it's like to go to sleep, knowing you desperately need the rest, and to then sit there in the dark thinking about how badly you need to be asleep right now even though you're not.

It only gets worse as time goes on, and then once you finally hit daybreak you're exhausted and anxious about your own exhaustion. If you're lucky you can finally rectify the situation when you go to bed again, but for those who aren't lucky, typically the cycle of anxious insomnia starts up once again.

It's January

See, this is a funny meme to post at the moment because we're not even two weeks into the new year, however it's a meme that only gets less funny and more sad the longer time goes on.

We all have our rough patches, but instead of taking this meme for the sad declaration that it is, why not take some inspiration from Michael Scott himself.

Realistically speaking, Michael didn't have a whole year rough patch, he had like a 40 year rough patch. And if things can get better for him, then surely things can get better for everyone else too.
