When it comes down to it The Office might be two totally different franchises that you wouldn’t think go together, but there is definitely something fun about taking two popular things in pop culture and seeing how they go together.
While the characters in Harry Potter and The Office are very different and face very different challenges and life experiences, there are some ways that they compare. We’ve put together a list of The Office characters and their Harry Potter counterparts.
Phyllis Vance: Molly Weasley
Phyllis and Molly are two characters that are both underrated because they are a little older and seen as matronly. However, these aren’t bad things at all.
They both enjoy things like crocheting or other home hobbies, and they can be mother like figures to others around them. On the other side of things, both of these characters can be intense when crossed.
Stanley Hudson: Hagrid
Both Stanley Hudson and Hagrid are kind of on the outside of all of the main drama. Overall, they are people who enjoy the creature comforts of life and just want things to be simple.
But, Hagrid is less opposed to hard work and is a little less selfish than Stanley. However, they both seem to take life at a similar pace, and they have similar energies.
Kelly Kapoor: Fleur Delacour
Kelly Kapoor and Fleur Delacour actually have quite a few things in common. They are both rather concerned with popularity and being seen as cool and beautiful. They can both alienate people because of their desire to be the most popular girl around.
But, Kelly is much more outgoing and talkative while Fleur is a character who is a bit haughty and keeps to herself. However, they are the two characters from their perspective franchises who are obsessed with being popular.
Jan Levinson: Albus Dumbledore
This might seem like a strange mix-up compared to some of the other choices on this list, but there is a reason behind this. The similarities between these two aren’t so much in their personalities but more in the way they were perceived over the course of their series.
Both of these characters started out being rather well-liked and seen as reasonable and good. But, as time went on, they were both revealed to have a lot more issues than that. Jan ended up being rather manipulative and so did Dumbledore.
Angela Martin: Dolore Umbridge
First of all, Angela might not be as downright evil as Umbridge, but they can both be quite cruel. They are both judgmental and don’t like people who are different from them. For Umbridge, she hates people who aren’t full-blooded wizards while for Angela this means judging gay people and women she thinks are too promiscuous.
They can both lash out in a mean way easily at others around them, but at least Angela becomes a better person over time.
Andy Bernard: Dudley Dursley
Andy Bernard is probably one of the more annoying characters from The Office. Because of this and because of his upbringing, he has some similarities with Dudley Dursley.
They both were raised in families that had the means to take care of them, even if Dudley was more spoiled by his parents. This makes them both out of touch, privileged, and annoying for other people to be around.
Dwight Schrute: Severus Snape
This match might seem like a bit of a stretch until you think about it. Both of these characters are seen as rather controversial by fans as people tend to either love them or hate them. They both are direct antagonists, although not enemies, with another character.
For Snape, his issues are with Harry while Dwight has problems are with Jim. They both also sometimes have moments of being good while also being rather mean and judgmental overall.
Pam Beesly: Hermione Granger
As the main female character from the series, Pam is the most obvious choice for Hermione. While Hermione is much more motivated by her intellect and is generally braver than Pam, they both function as women that have to deal with and provide to the men around them.
They are also both women who deserve more credit and development than they got.
Jim Halpert: Harry Potter
While Michael is arguably the main character of the series at first, Jim becomes more of the main character over time, especially after Michael is gone. Jim is the one who is cast as more of the heroic, goodly, likable character of any of the main men on the series.
He’s a bit more grounded and less of comic relief, so he’s more like Harry.
Michael Scott: Ron Weasley
Michael Scott is definitely the Ron of the group because both of these characters are largely identified by their humor. They are both characters who make others laugh at times and also annoy them with their insensitive humor at others.
While Ron definitely has a lot more heroic and brave acts to contribute, their similar personalities make them counterparts.
