It's been seven years since The Office ended but there's been a resurrection of the series after Netflix added the show to its queue. Now the show from the early 2000s is back and better than ever, especially with the addition of Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey's (Angela Martin) podcast, The Office Ladies.
After the success of both the show and the podcast, Jenna and Angela have been posting #ThrowBackThursday pictures of life on set left and right. It's been a glorious walk down memory lane. To continue looking at life behind the scenes, scroll below!
A Benihana Christmas
"A Benihana Christmas" was the Christmas episode in season three. In this episode, Michael's office holiday plans are ruined after Carol breaks up with him. To cheer him up, he goes to Benihana with Dwight, Jim, and Andy. Back at the office, Pam and Karen team up for a party to spite Angela.
In a recent Office Ladies podcast, Angela and Jenna talked about the episode with guests, writer Jen Celotta and castmate Rashida Jones. Jen (featured next to Angela on the left) talked about the writing process for this episode while Rashida talked about ing Angela for a humanitarian trip after filming (right).
Where It All Began
The picture above is the first picture of the gang on their first day of filming at the table read. Seeing how young and excited everyone is putting a smile on every Office fan's face.
As fans have learned from the podcast, many of the actors weren't sure if the show would get picked up for the long run on NBC. They knew they had a talented group of actors and writers but there was nothing like The Office on American TV at the time. They also had to make sure it succeeded against the British version of The Office.
Beach Day
"Beach Day" was the 23rd episode in the third season. Michael brings the Scranton office to the beach for a fun day in the sun. While the office thinks it's a nice office retreat, Michael was really putting them to the test to see who was capable of being the next regional manager. "Beach Day" was a huge episode for the series because it was when Pam finally spoke her truth and was honest with everyone in the office (including Jim).
In the pictures above, we can see some fun behind the scenes moments of the guys in their Sumo gear!
Booze Cruise
"Booze Cruise" was another legendary episode for The Office. Once again, Michael wanted to surprise the group with a fun office getaway, so he rented a booze cruise for everyone and their partner. Pam was with Roy at this point, Angela was secretly with Dwight, and Jim brought Katie the purse girl.
After talking with Pam, Roy, and Katie, Jim realized how true his feelings were for Pam. He ended up telling Michael how he felt for her and Michael encouraged him to do something about it. Sadly, by the end of the night, Roy and Pam set a date for their wedding and Jim broke up with Katie out of sadness.
BTS Chaos
From posing with props to conversing with producers, the actors on The Office have said time and time again that they were a family when they weren't filming. They were together for nine years while filming the hit show and were very involved in each other's lives. And what made The Office such a success was how the writers and directors implemented the actors in their decision-making process. Everyone had a voice on set, which turned out to be quite powerful.
Angela & Dwight's Big Day
Angela and Dwight had a unique relationship throughout The Office. No one knew when they started their romance but it was very clear they were dating on the down-low. After a few breakups, contracts, and arguments, Dwight and Angela finally solidified their relationship when they got married in the final episode of season nine. As assumed, they said their vows on Dwight's beet farm surrounded by their co-workers and loved rooms. Above, Angela is getting get dress fixed on the left before being carried down the aisle by her friend Phyllis.
Phil Shae: The Props Guy
In the episode "The Alliance," Dwight and Jim team up as an alliance in case there's downsizing at Dunder Mifflin. Jim, of course, includes Pam in the prank and the two jokesters set Dwight up for their own humor. This led to Dwight hiding in a box in the warehouse and Pam pretending to make a serious phone call. By the end of the episode, their joke backfires when Roy thinks Jim is flirting with Pam and their joke is exposed.
On The Office Ladies, Jenna and Angela have praised their prop man, Phil Shae, for the amount of detail he puts into every shot. It's because of Shae that Dwight was able to fit inside that box!
The Writers Room
What made The Office so iconic is that the writers mingled with the actors, and some of the writers even became actors themselves after mingling with the actors! Mindy Kaling (Kelly), B.J. Novak (Ryan), Paul Lieberstein (Toby), and Michael Schur (Mose) were hired as writers/producers/directors on the show but ended up having a role on the show as well. During the writing process, it became clear that no one could add the kind of humor that they were looking for, so why not add some of the writers into the mix?
Christmas In Scranton
"Christmas Party" was the first holiday episode for The Office. It was the 10th episode of the second season and showed Michael wanting to do a secret Santa gift exchange. Everyone had a $20 limit but Michael decided to go above and beyond and buy a $400 iPod to show how much they meant to him. The problem was that Michael was annoyed when his gifts weren't as good as the iPod he bought. The entire party got turned around because of Michael's iPod scandal but it was a sweet episode between Jim and Pam. It was in this episode that Jim gave Pam her iconic teapot.
The End Of An Era
After nine seasons, 201 episodes, and five Primetime Emmy Awards, The Office finally ended in 2013. It was a hard day for both the cast and the fans but the show simply ran its course. Everything that needed to happen happened and the show ended on a good note. The picture on the left was their last day on set as a group and the picture on the right was the pencil skirt Pam wore!
