Our Take On The Electric State's Netflix Success
It's A Disappointing, But Expected Outcome
Because of the star power behind The Electric State, its success on Netflix isn't a surprise. However, based on its star-studded cast combined with its reported $320 million budget, making it one of the most expensive movies ever made, many viewers have been shocked at just how bad The Electric State actually is, indicated by its dismal 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Electric State reviews have excoriated the film for lacking any semblance of energy or excitement.
The Electric State marks a new low for the streaming service and the Russo brothers, whose last Netflix movie, The Gray Man, received a 45% Rotten Tomatoes score. It represents a larger trend for Netflix movies overall, many of which are either glaringly bad or utterly forgettable. The Electric State is unsurprisingly a hit since subscribers are attracted to its star power, and it remains disappointing that this seems to be the standard Netflix is aiming for.
