TV Insider has now shared details and photos of The Curse, which will be led by Stone and Nathan Fielder (Nathan for You, HBO's The Rehearsal)
The comedy series, which will screen its first three episodes on October 12 as part of the New York Film Festival, is expected to debut on Showtime later this year. It focuses on how Stone and Fiedler's characters deal with a supposed curse that threatens to unravel their lives. Check out the photos above.
What To Expect From The Curse
The premise of The Curse is reminiscent of what Fielder has pulled off before in both The Rehearsal and Nathan for You. Co-created by Fiedler and Uncut Gems co-director Benny Safdie, The Curse centers around newly married couple Asher (Fielder) and Whitney Siegel (Stone) and examines how a supposed curse unsettles their relationship and their ongoing effort to conceive a child. While all this is happening, Asher and Whitney are also setting up their new home improvement show.
The couple's home improvement show is helmed by a producer named Dougie Schecter (Safdie), who might have some baggage of his own. Whitney and Asher aren't so spotless either, however, with their goal of flipping houses and converting them into eco-friendly homes for struggling residents of Española, New Mexico while they refuse to be called gentrifiers. The Curse also features actors such as the Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), along with Emmy nominee Corbin Bernsen (Psych), and Constance Shulman (Orange Is the New Black).
Fiedler delivered one of the best shows of 2022, reveling in The Rehearsal's premise-within-a-premise. Stone's diverse filmography adds to the show's cache, as well. The Curse could be a breakout hit, ending the year with a chaotic horror-comedy that is both thought-provoking and plainly hilarious. With its premiere looming, trailers and more plot details about the project can't be too far behind.
