According to the original comics, The Deep is supposed to be a parody of DC's Aquaman. In the show, in contrast, The Deep's characterization is primarily meant for comic relief, and even his powers have not been portrayed too seriously. He is supposed to have everything from telepathy to superhuman strength, but Amazon's The Boys has nerfed him since season 1.

Surprisingly, The Boys season 4's trailer features a scene where he dukes it out with Starlight and leaves a massive dent on a fridge's door with just one punch. While only time will tell if the new recruits to the supe team, Sister Sage and Firecracker, will make up for Maeve and Noir's absence, it seems like The Deep could become a worthy member of the group.
