Warning: SPOILERS for The Batman ahead.

Jeffrey Wright's Jim Gordon needs his daughter Barbara at his side in a future sequel to Batman villains like Joker and Hush, future movies and shows can finally explore everything the streets of Gotham have to offer.

Like other Gotham heroes, Barbara Gordon usually becomes Batgirl at a point where Batman already has been active for a while. One of her main sources of conflict is balancing her Batgirl persona with her secret identity, which she feels is underestimated by her father and society as a whole. The DCEU's  Batgirl will likely tackle these aspects of the character, with Michael Keaton's Batman serving as a seasoned mentor to Barbara and J.K. Simmons' Jim Gordon as her adoptive father.

While it will be interesting to see how the collision between the worlds of Michael Keaton's and Ben Affleck's Batman will affect Batgirl, it would also be exciting to see a new version of Barbara Gordon in the world of The Batman. In The Batman, Jeffrey Wright's James Gordon is almost the co-protagonist of the story, as he risks it all to fight side by side with Batman, with whom he has clearly spent plenty of time in two years of crime-fighting. Their dynamic could be shaken up if Gordon's own daughter gets involved in Batman's vigilantism — even more so if she experiences the tragic events of The Killing Joke, where the Joker shoots her and leaves her paralyzed in order to get to her father, before her triumphant reinvention as the strategic mastermind hero Oracle.

Why Oracle Makes Sense For Sequels To The Batman

James Gordon and Oracle

Oracle's introduction would fit the The Flash will help avoid confusion by clarifying that although both Barbaras are technically the same character, their fates are different in at least two universes. This way, Leslie Grace's Batgirl won't have to go through the tragedy of The Killing Joke, and The Batman's Barbara Gordon will be the brains to Batman's brawn.

It would be fairly easy to introduce Barbara Gordon's Oracle identity in The Batman. Jeffrey Wright is already a well-developed character that will likely evolve more through future sequels and spinoffs, where Gotham will also grow with more heroes and villains Barbara Gordon can fight or befriend. Batman will eventually be experienced enough to take newer heroes under his wing, and Barry Keoghan's Joker is ready to hurt Gotham's saviors where it hurts the most.
