Temtem is choosing a starter and building a team of monsters that complement one another and can take on opponents' teams. When doing this, players will need to pay attention to the attack types of their creatures, as well as what they are weak to.
There are currently 164 different types of creatures to catch in TemTem, and they come in 12 different types. These are neutral, fire, nature, electric, mental, water, earth, wind, crystal, digital, melee, and toxic. This probably looks very familiar to those who have played any of the games in the Pokémon series before. Indeed, developer Crema does not shy away from the fact that TemTem is a Pokémon-style creature battler. It has its own spin on the genre though, making it worth checking out even for veteran fans of the genre.
Most of the attacks in TemTem deal normal damage against enemy creatures. However, some attacks are super effective, or ineffective, due to the creature’s type. For example, Pewki, a water-type creature can use its water attacks to do double damage against fire-type creatures. However, if another water creature attacks it with a water-type attack, it does half damage. A water creature won’t mind being splashed. If the opponent uses an electric type though, players may want to switch out the Pewki with another member of their team effective against it. This is why the monster collecting gameplay in TemTem is important so that players have a well-rounded team.

It is not enough to simply match one creature type against another. There are other things to consider, such as creatures’ levels, their stats, and the items that players use in the battle. A highly leveled nature-type can still win against a low-level fire-type for instance. To get Temtem to their maximum potential, players will need to make cash fast in TemTem.
