Teen Mom star Mackenzie McKee’s mom, Angie Douthit, died after her two-year battle with cancer. Fans mourn for McKee as she and her family come to grips with losing the matriarch of their family.
McKee first appeared on the franchise back in 2013 when she was pregnant with her first child, Gannon Dewayne McKee. Fans were invited into her Oklahoma home where staying around to lend a hand. Her mother and father helped immensely when it came to Josh dropping the ball. Since the reality show was canceled, Mackenzie graduated high school, married Josh McKee, and started her own video fitness business. The Teen Mom OG, opened up to the cameras about the struggles she had been facing with her mother's battle with cancer, questioning how she will handle the immense loss.
Douthit ed away after a two-year battle with cancer. It was reported by People that she ed away on Monday, December 10, surrounded by her friends and family. The family took to Douthit’s Instagram to make the announcement. The post also noted that she enjoyed keeping her followers updated on her journey and being able to connect with her daughter’s fans.
On December 6, Douthit took to Instagram to share the sad news that she was choosing to end her cancer treatment and start hospice care at her home. On Friday, December 6, she wrote to her followers that she would only be going under two final doses of radiation treatment after learning that the cancer had spread to her liver and brain. McKee’s mother first found out she had cancer back in January of 2018. After finding out, she started to post updates to her social media, and her updates spread all over the world. Along with the sad message, her social media also shared two photos of her running a marathon. Her death only came three days after she had made the decision to stop receiving radiation treatment after she learned that the cancer had spread.
Naturally, McKee was devastated as she watched her mother’s health decline throughout the last six months. Though, as sad as her ing is - especially in the holiday season and just before the new year - Douthit fought hard and irably, and she had her family by her side throughout her two-year battle.
