  • Zombieland is surprisingly uplifting for a movie that starts on a brutal (yet epic) montage set to "For Whom The Bell Tolls", as Columbus' life lessons to navigating the Zombie Apocalypse feel incredibly down-to-earth and applicable to everyday. Amidst action and humor, Zombieland's core narrative is about living and embracing what may come in life, such as enjoying the little things. Eisenberg's found family is a solid unit, complete with their own heartwrenching backstories and motivations, yet a drive to keep going no matter what. Zombieland may revel in the delightful chaos that an undead uprising can bring, but also reminds its viewers of what matters most in the world.

  • Full of self-satisfied comedy beats and a repeating 'Rules' premise that feels like something which should have been dropped in an earlier draft (if only because it comes up so infrequently), Zombieland is saved by an excellent cast who share an omnidirectional chemistry.

  • Zombieland is hilarious, fast-paced, and a surprisingly interesting take on zombies – which says something because I usually don't like zombie movies. The cast are lovable, and the story has meaningful messages about what it means to be alive. I watch this movie every spooky season without fail, but it's great any time of the year.

  • A fun, gory zombie movie that leaned into the metatextual popularity of the zombie genre at this point in history to play around with the tropes. Like many R-rated movies of its time, a lot of the jokes are just offensive, but much of the humor still works.

5/10

Zombieland: Double Tapper offers up gameplay that is about as dull and mindless as the zombies that invaded the Zombieland franchise's world.
