Synopsis
Women Talking is a drama film written and directed by Sarah Polley that focuses on a community of women in a Mennonite community in the 2010s. When the women of this religious community discover that many have been victims of sexual assault under the influence of tranquilizers, they confront their attackers. The women, if they choose not to forgive, risk expulsion from their town and are denied access to heaven, according to the townspeople. The women gather together to discuss their actions and must decide if they choose to forgive, fight back, or start new lives. Claire Foy and Rooney Mara star as the stark contrast between a woman with righteous indignation who seeks justice and a woman who wants to move on - believing goodness still exists in the world.

Women Talking Review: Polley's Riveting Adaptation Boasts Great Performances [TIFF]
Polley broaches topics even when they seem impossibly hard, in the hopes that, perhaps, audiences will do the same with as much grace & humanity.
