  • This movies is way too long and self indulgent, but it is fun seeing how Michael Bay cooked TJ Miller in this one. I say it often, but Michael Bay might truly hate everything as shown by how he focused quite heavily on the relationship between an underage girl and a dude that keeps a card in his wallet that shows how their relationship is legal. Wild stuff.

  • While not the lowest point of the Transformers movie franchise under Bay, Age of Extinction is still a difficult movie to sit through. Its cast lacks the emotional investment that Sam and his family and friends had, and therefore it is hard to relate to. Cade Yeager and his party are unpleasant characters to follow, as the self-proclaimed inventor lacks the charm to make any of his clapbacks endearing. The same can be seen with the Autobots, who are stripped back and feel more machine-like than ever, even with Peter Cullen providing Prime's iconic voice. Even the narrative threads of a world wary of Cybertronians fall flat, trading all potential for a story that could have challenged how we viewed our heroes for another large-scale intergalactic plot.

Still, for audience that enjoyed prior films in the series (even while acknowledging their faults), Transformers: Age of Extinction is the biggest Robots In Disguise movie yet.
