Decades later, few expected Top Gun: Maverick to excel as well as it did. A sequel to a corny but beloved piece of 80's cinematic history evolved into a compelling story of ing the torch to the next generation. Maverick was a visual showcase of wonderfully shot aerial action that felt even more captivating thanks to its cast. While its ending was satisfying enough not to want a third movie anytime soon, the idea of a Top Gun sequel was once superfluous. Tom Cruise may surprise us once again.

Actually, I appreciate Top Gun: Maverick’s concept more than I enjoy it. Its aerial stunts are incredible, and Tom Cruise does not disappoint with his captivating action performances, which blend nostalgia and fresh energy. The only issue is that it does not fully commit to a new storyline, as it seems to rely quite a bit on nostalgia. The follow-up should explore fresh narratives and dive deeper into new characters.

This movie is definitely beautiful to look at. Some incredibly thrilling stunts and the most introspective I have ever seen Tom Cruise. Glen Powell rocks of course but this is Cruise's vehicle from the beginning. Don't know how they pulled off some of the scenes.
