  • It was just boring

  • My theory as to why Terminator sequels after T2 all suck is that the machines are already here in the real world, and nothing these movies invent are scarier than an AI that destroys an acre of rainforest to generate a picture of an anime cat-mermaid in a lake. Or whatever AI wrote this.

  • A step up from a few of the other movies in the franchise but misses out on a lot of what makes the first film and T2 in particular so amazing. Some interesting narrative choices in this one that don't always work. Don't really need to see it again. I am perfectly content with stopping this franchise at Judgement Day.

  • I think this movie solidified my issues with the franchise post-Salvation. Terminator should offer a wider landscape of tales, be it pre Judgement Day or in the Resistance era. Instead it keeps chasing after the T2 nostalgia, and it's hurting the franchise. Interesting ideas and concepts being forced into that setting have only muddied continuity, and it can be seen with the messy Legion subplot, which upends both the ending of T2 and the narrative of the entire franchise, creating a lot of baggage I doubt will ever be solved

Synopsis

Terminator: Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day, ignoring the rest of the future films to re-canonize the franchise. Set years after Sarah Connor successfully stopped the impending Judgement Day, a new Terminator is sent to destroy the resistance before it forms. Now forced to team up with a former T-800 terminator model, Sarah will seek vengeance and protect Dani Ramos, the new target of Skynet.
