Practical Magic might be my favorite "spooky season" movie of all time. It's perfect for fall with its New England aesthetic, the falling leaves, and of course, the covering up of an accidental death by two sisters. At its core, this movie is a tale of sisterhood, but there's also a love story, Sally having to accept herself for who she is, and an old curse being broken alongside an exploration of the ideas behind witchcraft. It's nice to see witches portrayed as normal women in a society that doesn't completely understand them instead of the villains in the story. Alice Hoffman, who wrote the original novel, has more stories featuring the family, and every year when I rewatch this movie, I find myself wondering if any of them will make it to the screen with as much success.

I really loved this film. It had humour and romance but it had pathos as well. It ticked a lot of boxes and had good script and story well told. I cannot understand what was not to like.
