  • I love this movie and the book that inspired it. The animation is superb and the characters are wonderful as their character development is realistic. The scenery is breathtaking and I wish to see it in theaters.

  • Howl's Moving Castle has some of the most impressive hand drawn animation that I have ever seen. Can't believe they were able to pull off some these shots. Think the score in this is really beautiful and Sophie is a wonderful protagonist. Just didn't like the character of Howl as much as I would have liked to.

  • While Howl's Moving Castle has some of the best artwork and animation of any Studio Ghibli film, all of it is wasted on a nonsensical narrative driven by a cast of characters who are either utterly unlikeable or are simply boring to watch. It may have a reputation for being one of the best Studio Ghibli films, but there are far better stories from the company that people should be spending their time on.

Synopsis

From Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki, Howl's Moving Castle is based on the novel by Diana Wynne Jones. The story follows Sophie, a shy hat-maker living in a fictional magical kingdom who is cursed by a witch into looking like an elderly woman. Leaving her home in search of a cure, Sophie encounters Howl, a powerful magician, and becomes the housekeeper for his magical ambulatory castle. The English dubbed version stars Emily Mortimer and Christian Bale as Sophie and Howl.
