  • Todd Haynes’ sumptuous romance is as enrapturing and seductive as a film as Cate Blanchett’s Carol is to Rooney Mara’s Therese. A perfect Christmas movie that is ittedly filled with drama but also an immense warmth and tenderness that makes the central love story irresistible.

  • I am a fan of Todd Haynes, and there are moments in Carol that define why. The color grading has meticulous attention paid to it, and the sex scene between the leads is one of the most sensual. Still, there's a distance between the main characters that Haynes never truly cracks, leading to a lack of feeling the film's full emotions.

Carol Review
8/10

Carol is a visually rich period drama that boasts strong performances and refined direction, though some may find it easier to ire than love.
