Survivor 48, it's been clear that the castaways are skilled in finding their way through social situations and downplaying their skills until it's absolutely necessary for them to move ahead. For competitors like Mary, who struggled to find her footing in the game after the merge left her without much of a system, the competition's end was a tough break.
Mary's elimination, however, leaves many of the Survivor 48 castaways ready to make the final push to the end of the game. With just a few days left in Fiji, the majority of the cast will be doing their best to outwit, outplay, and outlast one another. Eva, who's been part of the majority alliance throughout the post-merge phase of the game, was able to win herself immunity and navigate a tricky betrayal earlier in the game. Now, though, there's a tough road for her ahead as the endgame gets closer, but she may have a free and clear path.

Although Mary was likely to be the next eliminated castaway, the drama of Survivor 48 made it feel like she may not be the next one cast out from the group. Despite not winning immunity, which went to Kamilla Karthigesu after a difficult competition, Mary was hopeful she may still be able to get herself off the chopping block. With Kamilla in with Kyle Fraser, who belongs to the larger alliance in the game, it was clear that he was going to work hard to see that Eva, Shauhin Davari, Mitch Guerra, and Joe Hunter voted to take Mary out.

Despite a final push from Mary, the lack of pre-tribal council conversation made it clear that she wasn't going to be sticking around in the game. With the alliance between the core group of the season staying strong in their convictions, it's also clear that there are some cracks in their foundation as the competition becomes more tense. While Eva wasn't strongly highlighted throughout the episode, it's clear she's playing a bit more under the radar in the most recent episodes after taking her ally David Kinne out in a blindside. With Mary gone, time is winding down on Survivor.

As Eva has done her best to shrink the target on her back, she's worked hard to ensure that her bonds are solid enough to keep her in the game moving forward. With her alliance fortified now that David is out of the picture, the issues that have come into play impact her less from week to week. Kyle and Kamilla's alliance, which has made waves throughout the game consistently despite being incredibly under the radar, is likely to cause a ripple effect for others, but Eva has seemed to be strongly aligned with the guys stuck with all along.

While Eva has been trying to minimize her footprint in the game, she's also been seeing a lot of the other castaways on Survivor hit their breaking point. As the drama begins to unravel from alliances going sideways, it's clear that there will be a few major blindsides before the end of the game. Thankfully for Eva, it appears that her time on Survivor has become something she can depend upon, at least until the finale. It appears that if Eva plays her cards well, she may have the ability to move through Survivor's endgame with more ease than expected.
