With Survivor being on the air for 20 years, the fans have speculated about when the show will end, and host Jeff Probst has a guess. Jeff has been hosting the series since it first went on the air back in 2000, and he has never missed a single episode. The show reached its 40th season back in May 2020, and it is definitely still unclear how many more seasons the fans will get.
For many fans, Survivor wouldn't be the same without Jeff, but it doesn't seem like the fans will have to worry. After all, the 59-year-old host doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. In turn, Jeff has stated that he's not sure when exactly the show will end and whether it will even make it to 50 seasons. That's why the show's staff is always trying to come up with new and interesting twists to keep the fans coming back.
According to when Survivor will end, but he does know that lower ratings could significantly affect the status of the show. Jeff said that they are constantly working on new ideas to keep things fresh for the fans. In an interview with EW, Jeff said, "It also does come down to not just our audience, but network television, What’s happening? You look at ratings, we’ve been super lucky. Our ratings are holding. Our audience is so frickin’ loyal, man. They hang in there with us. In television today, [steady ratings are] like getting a raise."
Despite the fact that Survivor could go on for many more years, Jeff isn't sure if he'd stick around until season 50. In the aforementioned Heavy interview, Jeff Probst and his fellow producers of the show were asked if they thought that the show could go on for five more seasons, and while the producers were optimistic that it could, Jeff was a little more cautious about it: "I don't know, There is a complicated math idea on the board in there for [season] 41 or 42 which [he’s] trying to figure out." Regardless of that caution, Jeff has stated that he could see himself hosting the show for another five seasons.
With Survivor not being able to film season 41 in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many fans have been sitting around wondering when the show will be able to come back. It is unknown when filming is going to be able to take place with all of the travel bans and some countries going into a second lockdown, so it could be a while before a new season rolls out on TV. Even though all of this is currently happening in the world right now, one thing that fans do know is that it is very likely that they will be seeing Jeff Probst back on their screens when that time comes.
