details of the Surface Go 3 emerged online before the official release. However, now that the Surface Go 3 is official and available to pre-order, it's time to take a look at what's new and different to the Surface Go 2.

The Surface lineup includes laptops like the Surface Laptop 4 and the Surface Laptop Studio, along with 2-in-1 devices like the Surface Go and the Surface Pro X. Microsoft also offers a Surface Duo foldable smartphone. During the company's recent hardware event, Microsoft announced Surface Duo 2 pre-orders are already available through the Microsoft store.

With the Surface Go 3, buyers can expect a dual-core Intel Pentium 6500Y processor instead of the Intel Pentium 4425Y included with the Surface Go 2. The change should mean the Surface Go 3 will be faster than the previous model, providing s with more power while shopping online, doing homework or watching a movie. The 6500Y is only for the base model, however, as consumers can also opt for an Intel Core i3 version, as long as they are willing to pay $629.99 instead. The more Surface Go 3 also increases the RAM up to 8GB and the storage up to 128GB. For comparison, the upgraded Surface Go 2 comes with the same RAM and storage but is powered by an Intel Core M3. Buyers can also expect a boost in battery life up to 11 hours, compared to the Surface Go 2's 10 hours.

The Surface Go 3 and the Surface Go 2 do have plenty in common, including the same 10.5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1280 resolution. Similarly, both 2-in-1 devices offer an identical pair of cameras, consisting of a 5-megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording video in 1080p and an 8-megapixel rear-facing auto-focus camera. Both the Surface Go 3 and the Surface Go 2 pricing also starts at $399.99, making them equally affordable options for those looking to take advantage of a hybrid laptop and tablet design

When choosing between the Surface Go 3 and the Surface Go 2, the faster processor will make a difference, and even the extra hour of battery life can go a long way when needed. The Surface Go 3 may not be particularly revolutionary, but for anyone who is looking to bump up their 2-in-1 experience at an affordable price, the Surface Go 3 looks like a good fit, and a better option than Microsoft's Surface Go 2 at the same price.
