NBC's Superstore is undoubtedly one of the quirkiest and funniest comedies of today, and this lovable and relatable group of characters couldn't make working in a superstore more exciting or entertaining. Of course, it also wouldn't be the same without Amy as the supervisor of it all.
From her relationship with Jonah to trying to make sure the store doesn't implode, Amy is a headstrong and powerful character that is pretty hard not to ire. That being said, every character on a sitcom certainly has their flaws. So, what really are the best and the worst qualities of the lovely Amy?
Worst: Strict
Amy has a very specific way of doing most things, and while she would certainly argue she isn't - she's pretty strict and a bit high-strung. It's not that she really cares about following rules, but she just takes everything pretty seriously.
From being the floor manager to the routine nature of her personal life, Amy isn't exactly spontaneous or easy-going. Rather, she's a bit strict when it comes to her own life and managing those of the people around her. Sometimes, it isn't that redeeming.
Best: Reliable
While she's strict, Amy is also extremely reliable and responsible. It makes her an excellent employee at Cloud 9, but it's also pretty hard for any fan not to at least kind of ire the hard work and reliability that Amy has to offer.
If any fan had a crisis, they would probably be calling Amy for help. She does what she promises, and she always delivers in both professional and personal matters. Regardless if her co-workers make fun of her for it, it's pretty incredible how reliable and intelligent Amy is.
Worst: Nosy
For someone that's so responsible, Amy really gets in way over her head. She always wants to know what's going on, and her nosy nature almost always ends in absolute chaos. From texting Kelly off Jonah's phone to trying to figure out who some printed photos belong to, Amy is a bit relentless.
The worst part, though, is that she tries way too hard to get involved and 'fix' things that don't even remotely affect her. It's cringy for fans to watch Amy try to find a solution to a problem that she unnecessarily created by being nosy.
Best: Selfless
Although her inability to mind her own business can be pretty annoying, it's usually always out of good intentions. Amy rarely puts herself first. She thinks about her family, Glenn, Jonah, and the rest of her co-workers. She wants everyone to live their best life, even if she has to make some sacrifices.
Amy does finally learn that it's okay to put herself first at times, but her selflessness is still one of the most redeemable and irable traits of this character. It's certainly a reason she's one of everyone's favorite characters.
Worst: Withdrawn
Fans could probably all agree that they wish Amy would just be more upfront with her feelings. The whole Jonah fiasco is a prime example of this. Amy keeps her feelings to herself, for no reason other than that she doesn't feel like she should share them.
With her marriage, her hidden crush on Jonah, and so many other work-related scenarios, a lot of back-and-forth could have been eliminated if Amy just said up-front what she was thinking or how she felt. It can be super frustrating for fans to watch this go down.
Best: Authentic
Amy definitely tries to fit in, and she's willing to tell some 'white lies' to try and seem 'cool' but that doesn't mean she's not always herself. Amy doesn't usually care about what everyone else is doing. She more often sticks to her guns and is pretty confident in herself.
She's genuine and authentic, and Amy is a strong woman that's a great example of just being yourself. She makes sure people like her, but there's no way she'd change her personality to fit in. Amy's ability to do her own thing is definitely irable.
Worst: Excessive & Exaggerative
Sometimes, Amy really just doesn't know when to stop. Fans will never forget how awkward it was to watch her and Jonah 'accidentally' kiss when they were trying to act like they didn't mind the teasing. This is only one example of Amy being way too excessive.
She exaggerates just about everything and doesn't really have an off-switch. From trying to fit into trivia night to trying to convince everyone she stole a car in high school, Amy takes everything a bit far and excessively tries to justify her behavior. It always makes fans cringe a bit.
Best: Quirky & Hilarious
Despite how much she can be strict or excessive, Amy is full of quirks. She's actually quite adorable in all her own ways, and this also makes her relatable and absolutely hysterical. It's easy to laugh at her and Jonah's adventures and mishaps, but Amy is funny all on her own, too.
She's usually funnier when she's not trying to be, but it's still worth a laugh when she's trying to be cool. Amy does a lot of quirky and ridiculous things, and while she might not be the funniest, it does make her one hilarious character that's impossible not to love.
Worst: Awkward & Defensive
Amy being super awkward and defensive definitely goes hand-in-hand with her response of being a bit excessive. Despite it being a bit hilarious, fans can't help but shake their heads at Amy's awkward and totally cringy behavior. She doesn't like being put on the spot or people saying anything remotely critical.
She can't believe she's the 'bossy one' and she certainly can't get over the fact that they see her as older and responsible. Beyond that, the first few seasons are full of Amy defending her platonic feelings towards Jonah. This trait isn't a good color on her.
Best: Ambitious & Strong-Minded
Amy is a great example of a strong, independent, and ambitious woman. She's a perfect role model for women everywhere, but also really for anyone trying to move forwards in their life. Amy doesn't back down from a problem, and she's also devoted and determined. Beyond that, she has goals and the ambition to achieve them.
She doesn't let people walk on her, and this strong-minded gal is totally irable for the fire, ion, and strength she brings to the table. Amy may have her flaws, but this trait is something completely lovable and impressive - and one of her most redeeming qualities.
