What To Expect From Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow

Milly Alcock with the Supergirl Woman Of Tomorrow comic book

The 23-year-old Alcock is the perfect age to play Supergirl for the next ten years of the new DC Universe, alongside David Corenswet's Superman. The actress' age is also very close to that of Kara's in the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book. The DCU movie should follow that, as Supergirl's 21st birthday is a major element at the start of the story.

Disillusioned and missing her home and family, Kara goes to celebrate her 21st birthday on a planet that has a red sun, which takes away/weakens her powers and allows her to get drunk. From there on, the comic book sees Kara get a sidekick and travel the cosmos in search of revenge — or something else entirely. Given how Gunn has praised the comics' story and King's important role in the DCU, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow should follow that story somewhat closely for Alcock's character.

Alcock is best known for her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Her breakout role in the Game of Thrones spinoff showed that she has the acting skills and screen presence to bring a major character like Supergirl to life. Alcock is perfect to play with the nuance of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's version of Kara, who has lived a tragic life that has hardened her, though the movie should see the classic Supergirl seep through over time.
