Warning: SPOILERS for Suits LA episodes 1-3.
The best character in Suits LA’s episode 1 twists, and his focus on Lester’s murder trial has put Erica solely in charge of the firm’s entertainment department.
However, Erica hasn’t done any of this alone. Her loyal associate, Leah Power has been with her every step of the way. And while Erica nearly lost faith in Leah in episode 1, Erica relies on Leah for pretty much every aspect of her job. But, as Suits LA’s reviews noted, the series began by trying to introduce a lot of new characters mid-story, as if the audience already knew who they were. Leah’s received less development than anyone, but there are strong arguments for why that ought to change quickly.
Suits LA Episode 3 Shows That Leah Knows Erica’s Job Better Than She Does
Erica Can’t Even Do A Decent Carlton Dance
It’s established in Suits LA episode 2 that, after spending the entire first episode asserting that she deserved to be made partner and head of entertainment, Erica knows literally nothing about any of the firm’s entertainment clients. Brian Baumgartner’s Suits LA appearance further reveals that she took him as a client without even the most preliminary research about his role on The Office. The only celebrities Erica’s familiar with are from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but even her attempt at doing Alfonso Ribeiro’s classic Carlton dance is overshadowed by Leah knowing it better.

Suits LA Episode 1 Secretly Hints At Its True Protagonist (It Isn't Ted Black)
Ted Black is the face of Suits LA, but Stephen Amell’s character might not be the Suits spinoff's true protagonist after how episode 1 played out.
Erica relies on Leah for all important knowledge of even the most recognizable names in the industry. During a conversation leading up to Patton Oswalt’s Suits LA cameo, it’s revealed that Erica has never even seen a Tom Hanks movie. But for some reason, the episode still ends with Erica getting credit for giving Brian the incentive to turn his career around. She does make a grateful call to Leah, but there’s no reason that Ted and the firm’s clients shouldn’t be more aware that literally every idea Erica’s gotten credit for has come from somebody else.
Leah Is The Most Unique Character In Suits LA
She Cares More About Her Actual Job Than Being Cutthroat
Ted made it clear early in the series that he doesn’t care for Leah’s energetic optimism, even asking Erica to keep her away from him. But if Ted knew how vital she was to Erica's success, he may have a different stance on the matter. Leah could probably go over Erica’s head to make a power play and start shoring up her clients. However, while Suits LA is concerned with twist betrayals and finding excuses to shoehorn in original Suits characters, Leah stands out as basically the only person in the show who wouldn’t make cutthroat moves behind someone’s back.

Geez, What's The Point Of Louis' Suits LA Return Without A Harvey Reunion?
Rick Hoffman's Louis Litt is officially appearing on Suits' new spinoff, Suits LA, but he won't be interacting with Gabriel Macht's Harvey Specter.
Erica accused Leah of betrayal in episode 1, but that’s because she was manipulating her subordinate by pretending to help Stuart destroy the firm. It was a completely unnecessary mind game, and Leah was right to inform Ted that he had a traitor vying for partner in an office of less than half a dozen people. In fact, while Suits LA’s Elizabeth Smith is posed to become the only true villain in the story, pretty much everyone except for Leah has played mind games at some point. She’s the only fully honest person with a law degree in the entire series.
Seeing Leah Succeed Is Suits LA’s Most Compelling Storyline
The Most Loyal Associate In The Firm Deserves Time In The Limelight
Somewhat ironically, probably the best argument for Leah not having Erica’s job is the fact that she's the only character with relatable flaws. Most characters’ only relatable trait is wanting more money and respect than they’ve actually earned. But Erica not knowing or caring about anyone she works with also makes her unflappable, which isn’t technically a bad quality in her position. Leah, on the other hand, is easily starstruck and socially awkward. Just because Erica would probably sink the firm without Leah’s help doesn’t mean she has what it takes to command a leadership position.

Ted Choosing Erica Over Rick In Suits LA Could Backfire Because Of 1 Glaring Reason
Suits LA’s premiere ends with Ted choosing Erica to head up the firm’s entertainment division, but Rick might have been a much safer choice.
However, that’s exactly why seeing her succeed would be so satisfying. Aside from Rick, Leah’s pretty much the only character who demonstrates her abilities rather than just alleging them. If her success can’t end with Leah sitting at Erica’s desk, then it needs to end with her taking lead in a trial. Suits LA hasn’t spent much time in the courtroom, but seeing Leah overcome her awkwardness to win in court would be the most fulfilling payoff for her character. No matter how they do it, the series can’t end without giving Leah the spotlight she deserves just once.
