Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Succession season 4, episode 2!

Succession season 4, episode 2 is a memorable premiere follow-up for the final season of HBO's acclaimed comedy-drama. The Roy siblings have returned to New York for Connor's wedding rehearsal and one last battle of wallets and wits as the show gets closer to finally revealing who will take over Waystar Royco. Of course, the series already had lots of major reveals in the season 4 premiere, and Succession season 4, episode 2, keeps that going, doubling down on the drama, humor, and character building that has made the series beloved since the very beginning.

Succession season 4, episode 1 picked up with the Roy siblings being locked out of the company and Logan Roy's plan for GoJo to buy out Waystar Royco seeming inevitable. Episode 1 featured a tense bidding war over Pierce Global Media, with the Roy siblings outbidding their father's company for a final offer of $10 billion. In episode 2, the Roys are preparing for Connor's long-awaited wedding, but plans are interrupted when Willa vanishes. Despite this, the siblings continue to make business their number one priority, while Logan uncharacteristically takes a turn for the better.

Roman Goes To Logan — And Seems Like He Will Work With Him Again

The biggest reveal in Succession season 4 episode 2, is that Roman may be working with his father again. After the tense confrontation between Logan and his children, Roman shows up to speak to Logan by himself. It turns out Logan texted Roman to enlist his help in talking to Lukas Mattson. Mattson is the head of GoJo, the company that is buying out Waystar Royco, and Roman is the one who got the deal started. After a period of being away from the company, it seems that Logan is trying to bring his youngest son back into the fold.

Roman had agreed with Shiv and Kendall to have no with their father, but it seemed he was doing some negotiations under the table. Shiv catches Roman texting Logan early in episode 2, with the ending scene being the payoff to this storyline. Logan knows that Roman is easily manipulated, and getting Roman back on his side is a way to drive a wedge between his children. In the cutthroat world of Succession, every move is strategic, and this is just one of Logan's games.

Kendall Attempts To Sabotage The GoJo Deal

He Conspires To Get The Votes Needed To Block It

One of season 4's major overarching stories is the GoJo deal, with season 3 establishing that Logan was allowing Lukas Mattson's company to buy out Waystar Royco. However, the siblings don't like the idea of a buyout, with Kendall stopping at nothing to sabotage the GoJo deal. Despite everything he's gone through, Kendall still wants to run Waystar Royco. While the GoJo deal will get Kendall a pretty payday, not letting Logan win Succession means more to him, causing Kendall to conspire against the deal from the very beginning.

The ending of Succession season 4, episode 2 shows Kendall's next plan to sabotage the GoJo deal. Although the siblings have lost their supermajority, Kendall has figured out how to get enough votes to delay the deal. Luckily, he can get Stewy and Sandi on board, with their five votes beating Logan. Stewy and Sandi are only voting against the deal to get more money. Because of this, the GoJo deal is still an eventuality, but Kendall will cross that bridge when he gets to it. All that matters to Kendall is that he has bought himself more time.

Connor's Season 4 Story Is Sadder (& More Important) Than Ever

He Tries To Mend Fences By Calling Logan

Connor Roy has always been the black sheep of Succession's Roy family, with his presidential race storyline mostly happening in the background of the series' main arc. However, season 4, episode 2, puts him in the spotlight, with the events of the episode surrounding Connor's wedding.

The Roy siblings have always joked about Connor's fiancée, frequently making fun of her past as an escort, but she has always been loyal to Connor up until episode 2, where for the first time, it looks like Willa may actually leave Connor. At the wedding rehearsal, she gets drunk and disappears, sending Connor on a spiral that is sadder than ever.

To cheer Connor up, the Roy siblings take him out for a night on the town, hitting up a karaoke bar. There, Connor shows just how important he is to Succession. He can succinctly point out the problems with his siblings, with the true eldest boy ing Logan to mediate an apology. Connor knows this won't work, but this series of events shows that Connor is the most redeemable Roy of the lot. Of course, he isn't perfect, but episode 2 highlights his significance by showing that the rest of the Roys don't have to be how they are.

Logan Is Finally Trying To Become A Better Person (But He's Not There Yet)

He Can't Even Tell His Kids He Loves Them Without Putting Them Down

The ending of Succession's season 4 premiere revealed that Logan Roy is truly miserable, and episode 2 shows that he's trying to become a better person. Logan attempts to build relationships with his ATN employees while also setting his assistant up for a promotion to an anchor position, and even though it doesn't work out, it's the thought that counts.

Logan even tries to make up with his children, but his pride quickly gets in the way when he brutally tells them they're "not serious people" immediately after telling them he loves them. While he's not there yet, Logan is trying to improve, but this never comes to fruition in Succession.
