Megan Fox first rose to fame as the strong-willed Mikaela Banes in the Transformers franchise. Her character stood alongside the Autobots in their battle against the Decepticons. However, in her latest film, I, Robotesque thriller, embodying a lifelike android who becomes increasingly possessive and dangerous. The AI awakens to consciousness, yearning for the family's love, and will stop at nothing to possess it.

This stark contrast between her past and present roles highlights the evolution of Fox's career and her ability to delve into morally ambiguous characters. As she continues to challenge expectations and push boundaries, it's clear that Megan Fox is a force to be reckoned with. Subservience has found Netflix success despite its divided Rotten Tomatoes score.

Subservience Makes Megan Fox The Villain She Fought In Transformers

Much Like Fox's Role In Jennifer's Body, Alice Goes From Objectified To Predatory

Megan Fox’s big break was her role as Mikaela Banes in Transformers. Mikaela is a classmate of Sam’s, who uses her skills as a former car thief to help him on his mission to aid the Autobots in their battle against the Decepticons. The Decepticons, the primary antagonists of the Transformers franchise, aim to conquer Cybertron, defeat the Autobots, and establish universal dominance. The plan is to use the AllSpark, the source of robotic creation, to breathe life into machines on Earth.

The climax sees Alice's obsession reach a dangerous peak, culminating in a confrontation that threatens the lives of Nick and his family...

Similarly, sentience and hostility are explored in Subservience. This time, Fox becomes the villain of Subservience’s cast of characters. Nick struggles when his wife, Maggie, falls ill. To help, he buys a lifelike android assistant, Alice (Fox). As Alice becomes more integrated, her behavior grows increasingly erratic. She becomes jealous of Maggie and attempts to harm her. The climax sees Alice's obsession reach a dangerous peak, culminating in a confrontation that threatens the lives of Nick and his family. Alice's AI has spread to other robots, foreshadowing a future where humanity may be at the mercy of its own creations.

Why Megan Fox Left Transformers After Rise Of The Fallen

Fox's Career Took A Hit Following Her Michael Bay Controversy

The reason Megan Fox did not return for Transformers 3 is because of her controversial comments about Michael Bay. In an interview with Wonderland, she described Bay as dictatorial: “He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad man reputation. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is.” In recent years, Fox has acknowledged past mistakes and expressed regret for not apologizing at the time, which could have preserved her role in the Transformers franchise. Despite leaving the series, she has regained popularity, particularly for her acclaimed performances in horror movies.

Following her role in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Fox starred in the 2009 horror-comedy Jennifer's Body. She also ed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise and took on a recurring role as Reagan in New Girl during Zooey Deschanel's maternity leave. In 2021, Fox played the villainous Grace in Netflix's vampire thriller Night Teeth. While her departure from the Transformers franchise was a significant setback, she has since demonstrated her versatility and range as an actress, particularly in roles that challenge traditional stereotypes like Alice – and her programming twist in Subservience could make for a sequel.
