Netflix's hit science fiction drama series Stranger Things certainly helped make the sci-fi genre popular again. The series was created by the Duffer brothers and follows a group of middle schoolers as they attempt to deal with the supernatural things that are happening in their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana.
The series had just begun filming its fourth season when production was shut down due to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, this list steps in to keep fans entertained with the official ranking of the characters based on their likability.
Jonathan
Jonathan Byers is the older brother of Will and Joyce's firstborn so. He also becomes Nancy Wheeler's boyfriend during the third season after getting closer to her in the prior two seasons.
Jonathan got off to a rocky start during the first season with many fans finding his infatuation with Nancy quite stalkerish. In addition, his attitude tends to be off-putting to fans, especially in the first season when he struggled to believe his mom that Will was alive.
Nancy
Nancy Wheeler is the older sister of Mike and the Wheeler family's only daughter. During the first season, she is dating Steve Harrington, but their relationship quickly blows up, and eventually, she starts dating Jonathan.
Nancy becomes useful thanks to her investigation skills. In addition, she is also extremely brave and helps her brother and his friends defeat the supernatural monsters on several occasions.
Max
Max Mayfield moved to Hawkins Indiana during the second season of Stranger Things after her mother remarried. At the start of the season, Max was standoffish towards the boys but eventually, she warmed up to them. In fact, she even dates Lucas in the third season.
Max fits right in with the gang but she does cause problems for them. Not only does the group have to avoid her older step-brother, but Max also doesn't believe the group when they explain to her all the weird stuff that has happened to them in the bast.
Lucas
Lucas Sinclair is one of the four core characters in Stranger Things. Fans have a hard time deciding whether or not to love Lucas, partially because he's constantly switching his alliances.
In the first season, Lucas is extremely skeptical of Eleven before she proved her powers to him. Then in the second season, he begins a feud with Dustin as they both pursue Max romantically. In Lucas's defense, he does always comes around and is always there to protect and defend his friends.
Mike
Mike Wheeler is arguably the main protagonist of Stranger Things. He is also Will Byers's best friend throughout the series and the first one to welcome Eleven into the group with open arms.
While there is no denying that Mike is a great friend, he can be a bit overbearing at times. He definitely likes to be in charge, but his leadership skills can be disrupted by his strong emotions.
Jim Hopper
Jim Hopper was the Chief of Police of Hawkins, Indiana during the first season of the show. He ends up parting ways with the police department when Will goes missing because of the department's lack of urgency in finding the young boy.
Hopper starts of a standoffish and isolated character but as the series progress, audiences get to learn more about Hopper and see that he is a gentle giant. In addition, to being there for Joyce during everything, Hopper also tales in Eleven and becomes her adoptive father.
Joyce
Joyce Byers is the mother of both Jonathan and Will. As a single mother, Joyce does not get to spend a lot of time with her boys since she spends much of her time working trying to make ends meet. Though she might not always be physically around, she loves her sons and would do anything to keep them safe.
Joyce's mom instincts are put to the test in the first season when she realizes that Will is communicating with her through the lights in their home. Her ability to stay optimistic and protective of her kids makes her a fan favorite.
Dustin
Dustin Henderson is the unproblematic favorite of the Stranger Things bunch. He's definitely the peacekeeper in the friend group and even gives up on his pursuit of Max because he doesn't want to let a girl come between his and Lucas's friendship.
Dustin plays a huge role in the second and third seasons. In the second season, he is responsible for raising a young Demogorgon which helps the group discover the Mind Flayer. Then, in the third season, he helps the group uncover that Russian spies are in their small town.
Robin
Robin Buckley is the newest character to the misfit Stranger Things cast. She ends up working alongside Steve at Scoops Ahoy, the ice cream shop inside the newly opened Starcourt Mall.
Robin ends up involved with the rest of the group when she overhears Dustin and Steve trying to decode a Russian transmission. With her help, the "Scoop Troop" is able to infiltrate the Russian spy base and expose the truth about why the Mind Flayer has invaded their town.
Will
Will Byers drew the short end of the stick when it comes to his friend group. Not only is he the one to go missing during season one, but he also becomes possessed in season two and then feels left out in season three.
Fans gravitate towards Will because he's a good-hearted character who doesn't deserve the stuff he's had to deal with. In addition, fans love that Will is so loyal to his friends and wants nothing more than to spend time with them.
