As such, there’s always huge amounts of excitement when he teases a new release, and the fans quickly take it into their own hands to figure out what it could be.

There's Another Project That's Much More Likely

King has recently taken to X to share some details about what he’s working on currently, and he’s given the biggest hint so far regarding the content of his next book. In the post, King shared that he’s “back in Mid-World… and the Territories.” These locations feature heavily in his acclaimed Dark Tower series, which supposedly came to an end in 2012 with the eighth installment, The Wind Through The Keyhole. However, given the enormous scope of the series, new installments have always been a possibility.

But unfortunately, it’s unlikely that King will be returning to the Dark Tower franchise any time soon. Instead, it’s more probable that his tease of the Territories is in reference to The Talisman 3, which takes place in the same location. Importantly, he’s already teased this project before - whereas The Dark Tower franchise isn’t something he’s shown interest in revisiting.

The Two Series Could Finally Be Converging

King’s Talisman 3 tease is hugely exciting, and his mention of Mid-World has piqued his fans’ interest even more. This location has never featured in the Talisman books before, so it’s possible that the author is somehow planning to connect the story to The Dark Tower series.

Stephen King is no stranger to connecting his stories together, and there’s even an argument to be made that everything he’s written is technically connected somehow. However, officially bringing The Talisman 3 into Mid-World would be more than an Easter egg - it could lead into some kind of spin-off or loose sequel that builds on the events of the Dark Tower series.
