2020 looks set to be another eventful year for Stephen King fans, with new TV series and movies based on the author's library on the way. Beginning with the 1976 movie version of King's debut novel Carrie, the horror master's stories have been no stranger to both the big and small screens. At this point, some of King's catalog has been adapted multiple times, with Carrie alone receiving three direct adaptations and one sequel that basically copies the original's plot but changes the characters.
The tide of Creepshow have also debuted.
While the release line-up for 2020 is by no means complete at this early date, there are already several Stephen King movies and TV shows to look forward to. Here's a guide to those titles.
The Outsider - January 12, 2020
This 10-episode HBO miniseries premieres on January 12, and is so far the only Stephen King adaptation with a firm 2020 release date. Harriet's Cynthia Erivo also star.
Lisey's Story - TBA 2020
brush with death in 1999. King is writing all episodes of the series, which stars Julianne Moore as the title character, and Clive Owen as her deceased husband. After two years, Lisey is now finally going through what her husband left behind, leading to some surprising revelations about his life.
The Stand - TBA 2020
This second, 10-episode small screen adaptation of Stephen King's apocalyptic epic wrote a new ending to The Stand for this limited series, and it'll be interesting to see where that leaves characters like Stu Redman (James Marsden), Odessa Young (Fran Goldsmith), and Larry Underwood (Jovan Adepo). Amber Heard, Greg Kinner, Whoopi Goldberg, and and even rocker Marilyn Manson help fill out the cast.
Other 2020 Stephen King Possibilities
This early in 2020, it's very likely that more The Mist star Thomas Jane signed on as a producer. A 2020 release may be too much to hope for though.
