There is a Stephen Amell hidden gem Heels should definitely be on everyone's radar.

Given that Stephen Amell played Oliver Queen, a.k.a. Green Arrow, the character who kicked off the Arrowverse, he is a well-beloved actor. Arrow was a hit for most of its run, and when it was over, Amell shifted to various other projects, and although he hasn't hit that same popularity as his show Arrow, there are a couple of hidden gems in his career. Most notably is Heels, which finally hit Netflix and deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.

Heels Is Stephen Amell's First Major Show After The Arrowverse Ended

It's Also His Best Role

Stephen Amell raises an army in victory in heels

After a decade spent playing Oliver Queen, Heels was his next major role, originally premiering on Starz and lasting two seasons. Not only is it an impressive follow-up to his long-time career in the Arrowverse, Heels is arguably the best project that Stephen Amell has ever worked on. Amell has come a long way since he first appeared in his breakout role in 2012, and Heels is the result of a decade's worth of an actor growing exponentially over the course of his career.

The drama series Heels, which airs on Starz, features a number of cameos from former WWE superstars and independent wrestlers. Here’s each one.

Created by Loki creator, Michael Waldron, Heels tells the story of two brothers and their rivalry within the world of professional wrestling. One brother plays the heel/villain, while the other plays the hero/face. Amell plays brother Jack Spade, the heel, while Alexander Ludwig plays the face as his little brother, Ace Spade. Given that Amell spent so long playing a specific character, the way he is able to push himself as an actor and take big swings on a project like Heels is irable, paying off in spades in the process.

Heels' Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Right, It's Excellent

The Acting Is Top-Notch

While film and television are subjective, Heels received outstanding reviews, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94% across the series' two seasons. The reviews are right: Heels is very good and Stephen Amell shines throughout. Given that the audience score is identical, it's easy to see why Heels is an easy recommendation for those who haven't seen it, with the family drama front and center. Anchoring that drama, Amell and Ludwig give irable performances throughout the show's two seasons.

Heels stands out as the most critically acclaimed, which is impressive given that most of his projects are already well-regarded.

Looking at the films and shows that Stephen Amell has starred in, or had a significant role, Heels stands out as the most critically acclaimed, which is impressive given that most of his projects are already well-regarded. Unfortunately, there is one blemish regarding Heels. The second season ended on a cliffhanger, but Heels was canceled before season 3. Fortunately, there is a way that Heels can come back, and its performance on Netflix is incredibly important to make that happen.

Streaming Performance Often Factors Into New Seasons

Stephen Amell looks upset in the ring in Heels

In the era of streaming, series tend to get canceled left and right, and it certainly feels like that's happening at a higher rate than ever before. Unfortunately for Heels, it ended up on the chopping block after it failed to grow a substantial audience over its two-season run. With it no longer relegated to Starz, Heels has the opportunity to increase its viewership on Netflix, which has happened over the years with other series. In fact, if it does well enough, there is a possibility that Heels can be revived on the streaming service.

Heels boss, Mike O'Malley, has talked about Heels moving to Netflix and his excitement at the idea that the fantastic series could finally find an audience. In an interview with TV Insider, he talked about what it means for the show to be on Netflix, stating:

The fact these episodes now live on a platform where everyone knows how to find it. We’re just thrilled it will be shared with people. The beautiful thing is all you have to do is go to Netflix, search Heels, and watch the episodes. We’re talking about 275 million people who have this platform. Hopefully, enough of them will watch it.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed in the era of streaming, but if Heels does actually find a sizable audience, there is a chance it could be renewed. Heels is ready to be watched on Netflix right now, and you should go see it.
