PC players can look forward to yet another PlayStation 5 game as one of the console's biggest 2024 releases confirms that it's making the jump away from console exclusivity. In recent years, Sony has made a big effort to expand into the world of PC gaming by releasing several of its most popular titles on both Steam and the Epic Games Store; It's a move that proved controversial amongst PlayStation fans but has been well-received by the PC community. The company clearly has no plans on slowing down this expansion as yet another PS5 exclusive is coming to PC.

Per Gematsu, developer Shift Up revealed that it's planning to launch a PC version of its hit action-adventure game Stellar Blade in 2025. Speaking during a third-quarter 2024 earnings report, the studio noted that the success of games like Black Myth: Wukong has led to hopes that Stellar Blade will be even more successful on Steam than it was on PlayStation 5. Shift Up has yet to lock in a specific release date for the port but more information will be shared in the coming months.; It will likely launch after the PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Stellar Blade may seem like a flash in the pan for PlayStation but the game managed to destroy enemies with style. Those aspects may have been strong, but Stellar Blade's characters, story, and pacing were all criticized for being dull, dragging down what should have been an exciting adventure.

Regardless, it's difficult to see Stellar Blade failing to perform on PC. The game has managed to accrue a cult following on PlayStation 5 so it's likely that the expanded audience of Steam will only grow its established fan base. PlayStation games on PC have been a mixed bag in of reception but there haven't been any that could be considered outright failures.

Even If It's Happening Faster Than Expected

I thought Stellar Blade was a decent experience but not one I'd rush to purchase again on PC; I found the writing to be especially painful but the combat was enjoyable enough. I'm glad that more people will be able to play Shift Up's game simply because console exclusivity is such a frustrating part of the industry. I'm always happy to see Sony giving those who may not own a PlayStation 5 a chance to play some of the console's most popular releases.
