If you hope to reclaim Earth in Stellar Blade, you will need to pick out the right skills to get Eve through her hardest challenges. While you'll probably want to unlock every ability you can, you have to prioritize the most important abilities in the early game. These abilities help you dodge and parry difficult enemies more effectively, making this challenging game a little easier.
To unlock new skills in Stellar Blade, you'll need to spend Skill Points or SP. Luckily, it's easy to collect SP just by defeating enemies. As you spend SP, you'll work through different modules in one of three skill trees: Attack, Beta, and Survival. Investing in each skill tree is vital to beating the game.

Stellar Blade: Everything That Carries Over To New Game Plus
The day one patch for Stellar Blade adds a New Game Plus mode, and it's possible to go ahead and check out what all will carry over to a NG+ run.
10 Reflection I
SP Cost: 1
One of the main mechanics of Stellar Blade involves dodging enemy strikes at the perfect moment. If you time it right, you'll get a Perfect Dodge. While you need to learn the Perfect Dodge skill to do this, it is so ubiquitous in the game's design that it didn't make the list. Reflection I lets you utilize a Perfect Dodge to its full potential. Once you perform a Perfect Dodge, you'll Counter and Stun your opponent. Doing so will temporarily boost your Attack Speed.
Like many other skills in this game, you'll need to spend Beta Energy, or BE, to activate the ability. You gain Beta Energy simply by attacking and parrying enemies. You can keep track of your BE on the bottom left of the screen. Reflection I costs 1 BE to use.
9 Reflex Boost
SP Cost: 2
Completing a Perfect Dodge is a tricky task that requires good timing. You'll get many benefits if you can complete a Perfect Dodge, but getting the timing right can be challenging for some players. Reflex Boost is designed to help with that issue. Reflex Boost is a ive Survival Skill that widens the window to a Perfect Dodge.
Reflex Boost pairs well with Reflection I, as it gives you more of a chance to actually use Reflection I. If you invest in these skills early, you should be able to use Chain Reaction I. This skill activates upon successfully using Reflection I. It allows Eve to attack and Down the enemy, she just dodged. Chain Reaction I is considered a Combo Attack Skill and makes investing in these skills worth it.
8 Focus Boost
SP Cost: 2
A Perfect Parry in Stellar Blade is a great defensive tool. When you Parry an enemy's attack, you throw off their Balance and give yourself an opportunity to strike. Perfect Parry is considered a Survival Skill and, like Perfect Dodge, has its own set of skills ing it. Focus Boost is Perfect Parry's version of Reflex Boost. This skill increases your window of opportunity to make a Perfect Parry and is essential to any player who loves this defensive skill. Focus Boost starts a string of abilities connected to Perfect Parry.
Skill |
Official Description |
---|---|
Perfect Parry |
Completely parries an enemy's attack and damages the enemy's Balance. |
Focus Boost |
Makes it easier to use Perfect Parry. |
Counter I |
It can only be used upon successful Perfect Parry of an enemy's attack. It moves quickly behind the enemy to counter, then stuns the enemy. This is a Combo Attack Skill. |
Counter II |
Can be used upon successful Perfect Parry of an enemy's attack. Counters and Stuns enemies, temporarily increasing melee Attack Power. This is a Combo Attack Skill. |
Counter Chain I |
Can only be used if Counter I is successful. Attacks quickly and Downs the enemy. This is a Combo Attack Skill. |
Counter Chain II |
Can only be used if Counter II is successful. Downs enemies with a powerful attack. This is a Combo Attack Skill. |
Beta Energy Recharge I (Perfect Parry) |
Increases the amount of Beta Energy recharged with a successful Perfect Parry. |
Beta Energy Recharge II (Perfect Parry) |
Increases the amount of Beta Energy recharged with a successful Perfect Parry. It is more effective than Beta Energy Recharge I. |
7 Threat Detection
SP Cost: 2
There are two major movement skills every player needs to pick up from the Survival Skills tree. The first, Blink, allows you to dodge fatal, unstoppable attacks by teleporting behind an enemy and attacking, Stunning them in the process. Meanwhile, with Repulse, you push the enemy back, charge up ranged Attack Power, and analyze weaknesses. Both are key skills to reclaiming Earth in the action-packed marvel that is Stellar Blade. They can also, alongside Perfect Dodge, charge Burst Skills, as seen in PlayStation's demo video on YouTube.
Threat Detection is designed to improve both Blink and Repulse. Like Reflex Boost and Focus Boost, Threat Detection helps improve your opening to activate Blink and Repulse. With the fast pace of combat in Stellar Blade, Threat Detection gives you just the edge you need to continue ensuring your survival.
6 Shock Wave
SP Cost: 1
Shock Wave is buried a ways down the list of Beta Skills, but it is still a very important skill to work toward. Before getting to Shock Wave, you will need to unlock skills like Slash, Crescent Slash, and Charge Enhancement. These skills launch a powerful wave of energy at the enemy, Stunning them. Activating Shock Wave unleashes two waves that can easily kill your foes. You can see Shock Wave and its fellow abilities in PlayStation's Beta Skills demo on YouTube.
Once you get Shock Wave, consider investing in its upgrades. Cross Wave adds another energy wave to Shock Wave for the price of 3 SP, Stunning the target. Meanwhile, Wave Enhancement makes it so the first wave of Shock Wave will Stun enemies, so you don't have to wait for the third wave from Cross Wave.
5 Shield Breaker
SP Cost: 1
Shield Breaker is one of the first Beta Skills you can get in Stellar Blade. It costs 2 BE to activate but provides an important edge against enemies with shields. When you use Shield Breaker, you'll strike and Stun your enemy, damaging their shield. If you charge the attack, your Attack Power will increase. If you like this skill, there are six more skills in its module you can invest in.
Skill |
Official Description |
---|---|
Damage Boost |
Increases the Attack Power of a matching Beta Skill. |
Shield Damage Boost |
Matching Beta Skill deals additional Damage to enemy Shields. |
Fragmentation |
Temporarily deals more Damage to shields when enemies are attacked after using the shield breaker. |
Beta Energy Withdrawal |
Recovers some Beta Energy when an enemy is hit with a matching Beta Skill. |
Damage Boost I |
Increases the Attack Power of Shield Breaker. |
Dual Breaker |
Increases Charge Speed of Shield Breaker. Strikes multiple times, and Downs hits enemies when using Shield Breaker after charging. |
4 Lightning Rush/Infinite Rush
SP Cost: 1
Lightning Rush and Infinite Rush are essentially the same skill; it's just that Infinite Rush is more effective than Lightning Rush. However, you can't get Infinite Rush without Lightning Rush. Both build on the basic Rush ability: when you charge toward an enemy. These skills increase Rush's Attack Power and charging distance, allowing you to get to enemies further away and strike harder.
Lightning Rush and Infinite Rush are considered Attack Skills that can be improved by Rush Chain II, a Combo Attack Skill that will barrage the area you Rush toward, Stunning enemies. This skill costs 1 BE but is an excellent your dramatic charge. Consider getting Perfect Dodge, Blink, and Repulse before getting any Rush-based skills, as enemies may try to strike with a hard-to-escape attack when you Rush them. Otherwise, you can try to increase Eve's health in Stellar Blade, so you have a bigger margin of error.
3 Beta Energy Recharge (Attack)
SP Cost: 1
Beta Energy Recharge has two variants, each with a level one and level two addition (for a grand total of four different sklls). The first variant, Beta Energy Recharge (Attack), charges Beta Energy as you attack. Considering the wide range of attack options at your fingertips, this is an incredible skill to grab early on. Beta Energy Recharge (Perfect Parry) recharges Beta Energy for each Perfect Parry you conduct. This is excellent as well, but since getting a Perfect Parry can be difficult for some players, Beta Energy Recharge (Attack) is superior.
Beta Energy Recharge II of both variants is superior to Beta Energy Recharge I.
2 Counter I/Counter II
SP Cost: 1 & 1
Counter I and Counter II are part of the string of Perfect Parry skills discussed earlier. As it becomes easier to perform a Perfect Parry, Counter I and Counter II will become essential to striking a powerful blow against your foes. Both cost 1 BE to activate, so if you want to attack and Stun your enemies after a swift Perfect Parry, keep an eye on those BE levels. Counter II offers increased Melee Attack Power, which is considered Combo Attack Skills.
Since Counter Chain I and Counter Chain II are excellent upgrades for these skills, the entire Perfect Parry module is worth investing in as soon as possible (even though the Attack variant of Beta Energy Recharge is superior).
1 Ambush
SP Cost: 1
Ambush is an incredible skill that everyone should invest in as soon as possible. You'll need Ambush to get Beta Energy Recharge (Attack), but you'd want this skill regardless of what else it offers. You see, Ambush unlocks the ability to sneak up behind enemies and take them out immediately without a fight. Assault does something similar but requires you to be above the enemy. Ambush just requires you to attack when they aren't suspecting it.
With Ambush, you can strengthen your other Attack Skills, entering into a fight with a mighty strike. You can regain Beta Energy with it later on and follow up with another attack thanks to Chain Charge. You can even form a powerful final strike in a Combo Attack with Beta Chain! Ambush and the skills in its module are truly the best skills to get first in Stellar Blade.
