The scientific exploration game exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC. Developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive, Outer Wilds saw players exploring a series of small planets in a solar system which was constantly being reset mysteriously every twenty-two minutes or so. Players had to explore the various worlds of Outer Wilds and discover the truth behind the game's secrets, which included a number of fictional mysteries with a heavy dose of real mathematics principles.
Now, Outer Wilds is coming to Xbox One or Epic Games version of the title, is still a good purchase for any player who enjoys the idea of interstellar travel.
Outer Wilds had the unfortunate luck to come out the same year as Obsidian's The Outer Worlds, a game which was also about first-person space exploration but with a decidedly different approach to both gameplay and story. While The Outer Worlds tended to focus on gunplay and guile to get through situations, Outer Wilds simply relies on the player's understanding of the world and its mechanics to tell a story. Players looking for a non-combat focused title with mind-bending puzzles and an eternally-impressive gameplay loop should definitely keep Outer Wilds in mind.
