Shattered Space DLC - and it looks like this will be one of Bethesda's biggest. Everything that's already been revealed about the update promises players will have a plethora of new content to dive into when it unlocks, and the size alone gives players even more reason to get excited.
The Shattered Space DLC, which is set to release on Sept. 30, will reportedly require 12 GB of space to to consoles and PC, according to Redditor and dataminer Maleficent_Part2657. This will be Bethesda's biggest DLC to date, far outshining some of its prior best DLCs. For reference, the Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4 was only 2.69 GB, while the similarly-successful Nuka-World DLC was 3.66 GB.

When the Shattered Space DLC was announced in June, the trailer from Bethesda d a whole new world for players to explore in addition to an original story about one the base game's least-explained factions. With this DLC, players will get to venture to the world House Va'ruun originates from, bringing with it new characters and new quests.

The DLC includes a standalone story, meaning the base game won't need to be completed before venturing into the additional content - and considering the size of the DLC, there will be plenty of content to dive into. At this time, it's not entirely clear if most of this size is being used for the map, or if there are a significant number of quests included that are attributed to the DLC's storage size. Until the DLC releases at the end of the month, it's purely speculation.

The Base Map Is Already Huge
The base map in Starfield is already huge, estimated to cover around one million square miles of space. Some of the map size comes from the vast expanse of space between planets that players must travel through, but it still makes for a remarkably large map. Given that the base game takes up about 125 GB of storage on console or PC, I'm guessing a large part of this size will be allocated to the new world players will explore.
Please Bethesda, Bring Back This Cut Starfield Mechanic
Bethesda's Starfield could have had a cut mechanic that would have given the spacefaring RPG more life, longevity, and depth to its spaceships.
Considering House Va'ruun plays such a small part in the quests and storyline of the base game, there's a significant number of new characters and quests that'll need to be added to do this DLC justice. Considering Bethesda's track record with prior DLCs, and the immense success of Starfield on launch, there should be much to look forward to when this expansion drops.
Though the exact details of the coming DLC have been kept tightly under wraps, Starfield Shattered Space is already posed as Bethesda's largest DLC to date. Whether or not it'll live up to the standards set by the development company's previous expansions, though, remains to be seen.
