Stardew Valley's 1.6.9 Update is finally here but for those who are struggling to enjoy it due to technical hiccups, creator ConcernedApe has a simple but odd fix. While the vast majority of Farmers, especially those on consoles and mobile, are busy digging into the latest patch and all its secrets, some players are reporting major performance issues. It's uncommon for a game like Stardew Valley but when so many systems are layered on top of one another, it stands to reason that some stuttering may occasionally occur.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), ConcernedApe noted that he's aware of the technical problems, explaining that the best way to fix it right now is to "remove all hats from pets."

How this is impacting Stardew Valley's performance is unknown but the creator did quip that the in-fiction explanation behind the problem is "a strange rash affecting pets' ears in Zuzu City." The developer also noted that the team will address the issue as soon as possible, but did not provide a specific release date for a hotfix.

Stardew Valley 1.6 Is Big For Pet Owners

Why Not Start An Animal Sanctuary?

Stardew Valley's 1.6 Patch includes some major improvements to the game's pets, which is great news for those who felt their who also sells Tortoises, a completely new animal that provides some necessary diversity.

Farmers will want to be extra kind to their pets now since dogs and cats that form a bond with their owner will bring them gifts. These items aren't especially rare nor are they valuable, but it's a fun bit of flavor and a reward for s who always go out of their way to keep their animals happy. Of course, 1.6 also introduced the ability to place hats on pets but it seems best to avoid that for the time being.
