Stardew Valley Crosses Over With Another Indie Hit
While the Meowmere quest does seem like a traditional quest in Stardew Valley, it's actually a major reference to the survival game Terraria. In that game, players must toss a unique voodoo doll item into a similar lava pity to summon a horrifying boss known as the Wall of Flesh. The biggest hint that Pelican Town and the world of Terraria are connected across the multiverse is the window that players open which drops the sword: It peers directly into the pixelated landscape, including a view of a tree that represents the game's start icon.
The Meowmere sword isn't even the first time the two games have crossed over with one another. In 2023, Terraria released the "Labor of Love" update which added a host of Stardew Valley items into the game including Joja Cola, Stardrops, Blue Chicken Eggs, and Junimos. Given the scale of the 1.6 update, the community will likely be spending a great deal more time scouring Pelican Town for any additional secrets.
Stardew Valley's 1.6 Update Is Massive
Concerned Ape has spent months hyping up the release of Stardew Valley's 1.6 update, a patch that they promised would include a wealth of additional content to keep the player base happy. The developer did not disappoint as the update has added new farms, plenty of extra story moments and dialogue, hundreds of new furniture options, and even a traveling bookshop that can used to gain additional experience points. The community has shown an overwhelming amount of gratitude for the new content, especially given that Stardew Valley is almost ten years old at this point.
