Young Jedi Adventures on Disney+ is about to get very exciting. However, it also implies that dark days are ahead for the leading trio of younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs.
As seen in a High Republic initiative, having written a collection of canonical novels and comics set in the era 200 years before the prequels. Iconic Jedi heroes will be featured such as Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm, his apprentice Bell Zettifar, and Estala Maru. Likewise, it seems the trio of younglings will also visit Starlight Beacon, the shining Jedi space station that recently met its demise at the end of the High Republic's first phase.
Star Wars' Young Jedi Adventures Is Set A Year Before A Massive Star Wars Tragedy
It's also been confirmed that these crossover episodes will be taking place before the dedication of Starlight Beacon as featured in the first High Republic novel Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. As such, this means that Young Jedi Adventures is effectively taking place about a year before the space station's fall, one of the darkest days in the established Star Wars canon. Thanks to the Nihil and their creatures known as the Nameless who preyed on Force-sensitive individuals, the marauders infiltrated the station, shutting off several systems before detonating a massive bomb, destroying the station and killing several Jedi as well.
While the presence of Loden Greatstorm in Young Jedi Adventures is exciting for the kids' series, older viewers who've read the novels know that Loden was one of the first major casualties during the Jedi's ongoing conflict with the Nihil, having his connection to the Force severed by the Nihil's powerful Nameless known as the Great Leveler before he was killed with his body turning to stone. Likewise, Estala Maru was killed during the fall of Starlight Beacon, having been the station's head of operations.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows
What's the best way to watch Star Wars? Here's everything you need to know to watch in release or timeline order, and how to include the TV shows.
The Heroes Of Young Jedi Adventures Will Be Affected By The Jedi Guardian Protocols
In the current phase of the High Republic, it's been revealed that the Jedi Council has enacted the Guardian Protocols in the wake of Starlight's destruction. Under these protocols, all outposts are to be staffed by droids, the combat instruction of younglings is to be accelerated with earlier Padawan trials, no Jedi travels alone, and all independent research is to be suspended with offensive tactics being approved when required. Likewise, lightsabers were to be made more simplistically as they appear in the prequels, rather than the more ornate designs seen during the High Republic thus far.
While it likely won't be featured in the actual Young Jedi Adventures show, it's clear that the Guardian Protocols would massively affect Kai, Lys, and Nubs. Having been training on the Jedi outpost located on the planet Tenoo, it follows that the younglings would have to be relocated back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Furthermore, the acceleration of combat training would affect them as well with their Padawan trials likely occurring far sooner than expected. Dark times are coming as the High Republic nears the prequels, and this canonically includes Kai, Lys, and Nubs.

Every Generation Of Jedi Younglings Seem To Face Tragedy
Although the dark consequences of Starlight Beacon's fall likely won't be featured in future episodes of Young Jedi Adventures, it is rather unfortunate that tragedy seems to befall every generation of younglings that have been seen in the Star Wars canon thus far. The High Republic's younglings are facing the fall of Starlight and the Guardian Protocols. Younglings in the prequels faced the Clone Wars and Order 66. Even Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy met its end thanks to Ben Solo and his fall to the dark side, having been manipulated by Snoke and Palpatine.
However, it remains to be seen if any tragedy or darkness will befall the training of Star Wars' First Jedi younglings in Rey Skywalker in the New Jedi Order movie coming from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. While it's very exciting that Young Jedi Adventures is connecting further with the greater High Republic era, it's somewhat bittersweet considering what's to come in the near future.
