Star Wars TV shows via the likes of Hera Syndulla and Ezra Bridger, but also what awaits Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll on the planet of Peridea in a distant galaxy.

As Ahsoka season 1 came to a close, Baylan was standing atop giant statues of Ahsoka season 2's story was the continued inclusion of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost. Through the important presence of the Chosen One and especially the ties to the Mortis Gods, a massive character from Star Wars Legends is expected to debut in live-action: Abeloth.

Abeloth Is "The Mother" Of The Mortis Gods

The Mortis Gods Initially Appeared In Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Luke Skywalker vs Abeloth in Star Wars Legends.

As alluded to, Abeloth has a connection to Star Wars' Mortis Gods. Firstly, it is worth exploring a brief overview of the cosmic entities. During the timeline of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan Kenobi found themselves lost in space on a mysterious planet. This planet caused hallucinations of the past, present, and future, and existed as a vergence in the Force. On this planet were three Force gods, the Father, the Son, and the Daughter; Where the Father represented balance, the Son was darkness and the Daughter was light.

Clone Wars Timeline Explained: When Each Season Takes Place (Including The Bad Batch)

All seven non-chronological seasons of The Clone Wars take place within a three-year period, but where does one year end and the next begin?

Metaphorically, the story of the Mortis Gods and how they connect to Anakin is vital and serves as one of the best episode arcs in The Clone Wars. While the Mortis Gods were left relatively unexplored in Star Wars canon after this, save for a few teases in Star Wars Rebels, Legends stories explored more about the deities. One thing that Star Wars Legends stories explored was the existence of the Mother, someone who aids the Father in keeping the balance between the Son and the Daughter.

However, the Mother was mortal and did not wish to lose her family. As a result, she bathed in the Font of Power - a powerful dark side nexus in the Force - and the Pool of Knowledge. The dark side powers granted the Mother the immortal life she craved but twisted her into a malevolent cosmic being who became known as Abeloth. After this, Abeloth's dark means of keeping her family together saw her imprisoned by the Son and the Daughter, longing to escape both to reunite with her children and exert her will over the galaxy.

Ahsoka Season 2 Will Likely Focus On The Mortis Gods

Teases Of The Mortis Gods' Inclusion Were Found In Ahsoka Season 1

With Abeloth being such an otherworldly concept and confined solely to Star Wars Legends, the question of how she ties into Ahsoka season 2 is valid. Although Abeloth herself has not been confirmed, it is at least expected that the Mortis Gods will play a big role in Ahsoka season 2. The biggest tease of this is the aforementioned statues found by Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 1's finale. The statues were of the Father and the Son, with the Daughter next to them, only with the latter partially destroyed.

Another hint of the Mortis Gods' inclusion came in the form of Morai, a mysterious white bird who has followed Ahsoka...

The Father's statue was pointing off into the wastelands of Peridea, with Baylan following to uncover this power he hopes will end the cycle of violence in the galaxy. Many assume the power Baylan seeks is Abeloth herself, imprisoned in another Star Wars galaxy. Another hint of the Mortis Gods' inclusion came in the form of Morai, a mysterious white bird who has followed Ahsoka since the latter was killed by the Son and subsequently resurrected by the Daughter in The Clone Wars' Mortis arc.

Morai Explained: Ahsoka's White Bird Species & Deep Star Wars Lore

Ahsoka's old friend Morai returns to Star Wars in Ahsoka episode 8. Here's what that means for Ahsoka and how it connects to Star Wars lore.

Morai is always depicted as being connected to the Daughter, with the one that follows Ahsoka being theorized as a manifestation of the Daughter's will. Others have theorized that Ahsoka became the Daughter after the latter transferred her life force into the former, explaining Morai's connection to her. Finally, Anakin Skywalker was offered the chance to become the Father after the latter's ing during The Clone Wars, thus keeping balance in the Force. With Anakin manifesting on Peridea to guide Ahsoka, Ahsoka season 2 is set up for a massively Mortis-heavy story.

With all of these hints at Star Wars' Mortis lore being involved in Ahsoka season 2, the final question is whether Abeloth will debut. Thus far, little in the way of outright confirmation has been granted by Dave Filoni, who is currently writing the continuation of the show. However, it is safe to assume that Abeloth will appear. Based on what is known of her story from Star Wars Legends and the elements included in Ahsoka season 1, all signs point to Abeloth being the object of Baylan Skoll's search.

It would make sense for Abeloth's canon imprisonment to be in another galaxy, meaning it is much more difficult for her to escape...

In Legends, Abeloth was imprisoned by her fellow Mortis Gods. It would make sense for Abeloth's canon imprisonment to be in another galaxy, meaning it is much more difficult for her to escape. The Mortis elements of Peridea further this, with the Father, Son, and Daughter leaving them there as markers should they need to find Abeloth once more. Finally, the head of the Daughter was destroyed in Ahsoka's statues, with Abeloth dark powers likely detecting the Light. All of this points to a big debut for the Star Wars villain in Ahsoka season 2, thus making the story one of great anticipation.
