This post contains a PREVIEW for Star Wars: Battle of Jakku - Republic Under Siege #1

Asajj Ventress. Although Ventress is best known for being Count Dooku's Sith assassin during the Clone Wars, she didn't always belong to the dark side, and also escaped its hold in the Clone Wars' aftermath. Now, Luke Skywalker has uncovered a connection to Ventress' early history following the Battle of Endor.

As seen in the new preview for Star Wars: Battle of Jakku -Republic Under Siege #1 by Alex Segura, Stefano Raffaele, Jethro Morales, Jim Campbell, and Alex Sinclair, Luke Skywalker is searching for relics and texts belonging to the Jedi Order. Not unlike the Jedi star com Luke retrieved in the previous arc Insurgency Rising, the Jedi Knight has located a compendium belonging to Jedi Master Ky Narec:

Confirming that Ky Narec's death led to his apprentice embracing the path of the dark side, Star Wars fans know that this student was none other than Asajj Ventress before she became apprenticed to Count Dooku. During the Clone Wars, Ventress was an impressive warrior whom Luke's father Anakin Skywalker fought on more than one occasion during the galactic conflict in the years just before Luke's birth.

While Ventress faithfully served Dooku for years, her growing power in the Force during the Clone Wars resulted in Darth Sidious forcing Dooku to betray and cast her aside. This motivated Ventress to initially seek revenge with aid from her fellow Nightsisters of Dathomir. Failing that, Ventress becomes a bounty hunter and eventually falls in love with Jedi Master Quinlan Vos. Surviving into the Dark Times, Ventress does have an encounter with the rogue Clone Force 99, though the rest of her story remains a mystery in the Star Wars canon. However, Ventress' entire story begins with Ky Narec.

Will Luke Skywalker Learn More About Ventress' Story?

We Still Don't Know Her Final Fate

It would be very exciting if Luke Skywalker eventually learns more about Ventress and her history in the Star Wars timeline, or even reveals what he's already learned about the former Sith assassin. There are certainly more Asajj Ventress stories that Star Wars could and should tell. After all, Ventress' final fate remains unknown beyond the fact that she survived into the Dark Times of the Empire's rule. Regardless, the new connection between Luke Skywalker and Ventress is a very fun Easter egg all the same.
