George Lucas' Protégé Confirmed As Co-Writer On Star Wars' Next Movie

UPDATE: 2024/08/29 17:46 EST BY THOMAS BACON

Lucasfilm has confirmed this art is not theirs nor it is associated with The Mandalorian & Grogu

Screen Rant has confirmed the art is not from the film or Lucasfilm, and is entirely unrelated to the plot of the movie. We have removed the unofficial art.

Concept art for The Mandalorian and Grogu's story.

As seen via IMDb, concept art by Melany Maximus features a Mandalorian standing on a fertile world that may be depicting Mandalore long before the events of The Mandalorian. In addition to the greenery that surrounds the mysterious Mandalorian, a waterfall can be seen cascading behind them. The scene is reminiscent of the vegetation revealed on Mandalore in The Mandalorian season 3 despite the planet having become a desert where nothing grew after centuries of war.

The Helmet Design Is Similar To Tarre Vizsla, The First Mandalorian Jedi

While the identity of the Mandalorian in the concept art is unconfirmed, the armor looks older, and the design of the helmet is most similar to that of Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian Jedi. Vizsla created and wielded the Darksaber, which became a symbol that he, and many Mandalorians after him, used to unite the various clans of Mandalore. The Mandalorian and Grogu could potentially feature a flashback with Vizsla on ancient Mandalore before it was transformed into a desert.

Now that Grogu is officially Din's son and a Mandalorian, learning more about ancient Mandalore and Vizsla could tie into Grogu's teachings.

Vizsla's live-action debut previously seemed more likely in The Mandalorian season 3, before the Darksaber was destroyed, and when it was still a significant part of Din's story. An ancient Mandalore flashback would also be surprising, since Din and Grogu have left Mandalore and are now more focused on the adventures that the Mandalorian Armorer told them to pursue. A Vizsla appearance would be thrilling for Star Wars Rebels fans, but might lack the mainstream appeal needed for Star Wars' first film released in theaters since 2019.

Just because Din has physically left Mandalore does not mean that he is no longer connected to its history or culture, though. Now that Grogu is officially Din's son and a Mandalorian, learning more about ancient Mandalore and Vizsla could tie into Grogu's teachings. It would be a great way to further bridge the gap between the animated and live-action Star Wars stories, as Vizsla was first introduced in Rebels, and could now be part of the live-action The Mandalorian and Grogu.
