The Siege of Mandalore and "Victory And Death" marked the end of one of the greatest pieces of The Clone Wars. Dave Filoni, after a twelve-year build-up, managed to finish the series the way he and George Lucas had so desperately wanted to do.
Season seven ended in The Clone Wars spectacularly, and it will get rewatched for years to come. With such brilliantly written stories that the season has a plethora of fantastic, memorable quotes, the kind that is so prominent throughout Star Wars, and we look at ten of the very best here.
"I Hope You At Least Told Pé I Said Hello." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Unfortunately, Pé Amidala did not appear much in the shows final season, but her brief appearance in the second episode is pretty great.
When Rex and Anakin try to hide Anakin and Pé's secret meeting from Obi-Wan, he sees right through it, making it clear he at least knows something about the romance, and it is delivered with the classic Obi-Wan sass that makes it ever so memorable.
"Loyalty Means Everything To The Clones." - Anakin Skywalker
The reunion of Ahsoka and Anakin, and then Ahsoka and Rex is a fantastic sequence, with Rex and the 501st paying homage to their former general.
When Anakin takes Ahsoka to see this surprise, he talks about how much Ahsoka meant to them. He told her about how she had risked her life for them, and fought with, for, and alongside them. He finished it off with an accurate line "Loyalty means everything to the clones."
"Sometimes In War, It's Hard To Be The One That Survives." - Commander Cody
Commander Cody is another character who is not in the season much, by the end being too busy on Utapau with Obi-Wan, but still manages to deliver one of the best quotes.
When Rex re his fallen brothers like Heavy and, at that point, Echo, Cody points out that normal people do not understand how hard it is to survive the war, to live through the deaths of so many of your brothers, one of the many tragedies of the clones.
"If That's Where You Feel Your Place Is, Then That's Where You Belong." - Captain Rex
The Bad Batch arc seen Rex and clone force 99 rescue Echo and seemingly lead him back home to the 501st and the clones. However, it did not end up that way.
Echo saw that after what he had been through, he belonged with the Bad Batch, not with the 501st. Rex, understanding the importance of the individuality of clones and their place in the Galaxy, encourages Echo to go where he feels he best belongs. A truly bittersweet moment.
"Well, I've Known No Other Way. Gives Us Clones All A Mixed Feeling About The War. Many People Wish It Had Never Happened, But Without It, We Wouldn't Exist." - Commander Rex
In the penultimate episode "Shattered" there is immense tension, and a seriously eery feeling about the start of the episode, specifically on the ship between Ahsoka and Rex.
Before the ultimate unleash of Order 66, Rex and Ahsoka had a conversation about war and how both of them had been in it their whole lives. Rex points out that without the war, he and his brothers would not exist, and it is a powerful idea.
"What's One More?" - Bo-Katan Kryze
Bo-Katan Kryze is a phenomenal badass brought into Star Wars via The Clone Wars, who does not disappoint in her time through season seven.
She is so focused on the savior of Mandalore and her people from Maul, with absolutely no time for the Galactic politics in which the Jedi are caught up. She makes this clear with her sarcastic quip at Obi-Wan, "What's one more?"
"I Was Cast Aside, I Was Forgotten, But I Survived, And I Can Thrive In The Chaos That Is To Come." - Maul
Sam Witwer gives an unbelievable performance in the final season, particularly in "The Phantom Apprentice."
One of his best quotes as Maul comes when he is talking about his master's plan and the clones' role in it, and his knowledge of it. Maul describes how he was cast aside, but as is a common theme for Maul, he thrives in the chaos, whether it be in crime or his hunt for revenge.
"This Ship Is Going Down And Those Men, My Brothers, Are Willing TO Die And Take You And Me Along with Them." - Rex
Emotion and performance can elevate quotes, and that is what happens here with Dee Bradley Baker's performance, and the emotion visible on Rex's face when Ahsoka takes off his helmet.
When Ahsoka tells Rex, they cannot go out and face Jesse and the 501st as they are too outnumbered, and Ahsoka does not want to kill them. But, with tears in his eyes, Rex tells Ahsoka they do not care, and the troops will happily die, killing the pair. It is hard to watch Rex suffer so much, knowing his brothers are being manipulated, and that everyone in this situation may die.
"Every Choice You Have Made, Has Led You To This Moment." - Maul
There were so many things that had to fall into place, so many choices that had to be made, so many things that had to be done in very specific ways for Ahsoka to end up in the Siege of Mandalore face-to-face with Maul, something Maul points out.
It is a quote typical of a trailer that works immensely well in the build-up to the pairs lightsaber duel. Maul's entire speech before this talking about how the Republic had already fallen, and that Darth Sidious cannot be stopped by anyone, except for he and Ahsoka is phenomenal, ending in this quote where he tells Ahsoka truthfully "Every choice you have made has led you to this moment."
"You're A Good Soldier Rex. So Is Every One Of Those Men Down There. They May Be Willing To Die, But I Am Not The One Who Is Going To Kill Them."
Ahsoka Tano gives a plenitude of beautiful, emotional, and incredible quotes throughout season seven. However, none embody her journey; her character like this one does.
Ahsoka telling Rex she will not kill the clones, despite them ready and waiting to slaughter them, both sums up Ahsoka as a good-hearted character, as well as her relationship with the clones. She never used her lightsaber on the clones, but to deflect their blaster bolts or destroy their blasters, she adamantly stayed as but a defender of she and Rex's lives, making her finale with the graves of the clones that bit more heartbreaking.
