The second season of excellent characters that fans adore.
As is always the case, not every single episode is perfect, some filler is involved and is incredibly mediocre and episodes that are so very unmemorable. But, as IMDb can attest to, there are some great episodes that fans love.
Worst - "R2 Come Home" (7.6)
"R2 Come Home" is a part of the story in which Boba Fett infiltrates the clone cadets in a bid to exact revenge on Mace Windu, the Jedi who killed his father.
This episode follows Artoo, who, after Anakin and Mace Windu get trapped by Boba Fett and his crew in a crashed cruiser, must send a message for help.
Best - "The Mandalore Plot" (8.1)
It is always a joy for fans when the series takes us to Mandalore and unleashes a story with the Mandalorians. They are always fantastic. This first outing in season two is no different.
"The Mandalore Plot" sees Obi-Wan called to Mandalore to a familiar face in Duchess Satine Kryze when rumors arise that Death Watch has seen a resurgence on Mandalore.
Worst - "The Zillo Beast" (7.6)
One of the biggest mysteries that have come out of The Clone Wars officially ending is what has happened to the Zillo Beast, whom this episode centers around.
The episode sees the Republic end the Battle on Malastare using a powerful electro-proton bomb, subsequently releasing the ancient Zillo Beast, a colossal creature thought to be extinct.
Best - "Cargo Of Doom" (8.1)
The kickoff arc for season two opens the season in a big way, with the second episode of it rated slightly higher than the season premiere, and its final installment.
It picks up where the last episode left off and has Anakin and Ahsoka in pursuit of Cad Bane to retrieve the stolen Holocron, which Bane has taken for Darth Sidious. Being as skilled as he is, though, the Jedi struggle to capture Bane.
Worst - "Cat And Mouse" (7.6)
"Cat And Mouse" is by no means the worst episode of The Clone Wars out there, containing some fun and exciting Anakin moments, and showcasing his skill as a pilot and General.
The episode revolves around Anakin's assigned task to get past the Separatist blockade of iral Trench and getting supplies to Christophsis's surface. Anakin being Anakin though decides to take the matter of the blockade into his own hands.
Best - "Lethal Trackdown" (8.2)
"Lethal Trackdown" is the finale of season two as well as the final entry to the three-part Boba Fett arc in the season, continuing on from "R2 Come Home" in a much higher rated episode.
The episode sees Boba's mentor, Aurra Sing, take Republic hostages - something Boba is not entirely on board with - as a way to make Windu face the bounty hunters, although with he and Anakin recovering Ahsoka Tano and Plo Koon set out to find the fugitives and rescue the hostages.
Worst - "Senate Spy" (7.1)
The Clone Wars does such a phenomenal job of taking aspects of the prequels that were subpar in execution, and improving them incredibly, such as Anakin and Pé's relationship, and Anakin's deep-rooted emotional issues, as seen in this episode.
The episode sees Pé investigate a Separatist conspiracy within the Senate involving her old friend and romance, the very unlikeable Rush Clovis. The two go to Cato Neimoidia to negotiate with the Trade Federation, where it not only becomes clear that Rush is in with the Separatists but where Pé gets poisoned. Anakin's incredible care for Pé and immense jealousy shines.
Best - "Voyage Of Temptation" (8.2)
Speaking of great romances in The Clone Wars, there is perhaps none better than Obi-Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, whose story continues from "The Mandalore Plot" with "Voyage Of Temptation."
It follows Obi-Wan and Anakin as they guard a ship filled with the Council of Neutral Systems, which includes Satine, on the way to Coruscant, as assassination attempts are made on the Duchess's life by a traitor using assassin droids. It also becomes known to Anakin that Obi-Wan and Satine have a history together.
Worst - "Senate Murders" (7.0)
Sometimes all it takes is a single character to help make a mediocre episode or story that much worse, which in "Senate Murders" comes in the form of Inspector Tan Divo.
The title of the episode makes the plot clear, as following a political dispute in the Senate, Senator Farr gets poisoned in the presence of Pé, Mon Mothma, and others. Audiences then follow Pé and Bail Organa as they investigate the matter and eventually uncovers the truth that it is their friend Lolo who is the culprit. The episode as nothing of note to the story, and is just some subpar filler.
Best - "Landing At Point Rain" (8.2)
When it comes to the best story arc of season two of the show, it is a tossup between the Mandalore Plot arc and the Second Battle of Geonosis, with "Landing At Point Rain," making it hard to argue against the latter.
It is a four-episode arc that kicks off here as Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Ki-Adi Mundi go alongside clones to Geonosis to destroy a droid factory. The episode is incredibly tense, with great action, and brilliant production all round and deserves the top spot of season two.
