The executive producer behind Star Wars TV show on the horizon, new details about what inspired the show's tone, style, and story have been revealed.

In the latest issue of SFX Magazine, The Acolyte's primary inspirations were outlined by executive producer Simon Emanuel. When describing how The Acolyte explored its many fight sequences, Emanuel revealed an inspiration beyond the realm of Star Wars in the form of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. Emanuel explored how he and showrunner Leslye Headland collaborated with stunt coordinator Chris Clark Cowan to take The Acolyte's action to a level Star Wars has rarely seen:

"The thing I... got very excited about was Kill Bill. One of the things we talked about really early on was the action... in these kinds of shows, action has to be a character... so I introduced Leslye [Headland] to a guy called Chris Clark Cowan... and action became such a component of this story. For me, it's the best action the franchise has seen - and there's so much of it."

As evident by Emanuel's comments, The Acolyte's action scenes promise to be some of the franchise's best. The reveal that Kill Bill inspired The Acolyte alone is enough to prove this, with the Tarantino film being revered for its extended kung-fu action sequences. Furthermore, the involvement of Chris Clark Cowan seems to provide further evidence that The Acolyte's action will be more exciting than most other installments in the Star Wars saga.

Clark Cowan has long been a stunt coordinator for some of Hollywood's biggest films, including the likes of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Wonder Woman, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The latter two are extremely exciting credits, with Rogue One's action being among the best in the franchise and Shang-Chi's martial arts scenes ranking among the MCU's best. The Acolyte is a television series set in the Star Wars universe at the end of the High Republic Era, where both the Jedi and the Galactic Empire were at the height of their influence. This sci-fi thriller sees a former Padawan reunite with her former Jedi Master as they investigate several crimes - all leading to darkness erupting from beneath the surface and preparing to bring about the end of the High Republic.
