Star Wars executive producer Simon Emanuel revealed in an interview with SFX Magazine that The Acolyte brought on action designer Chris Clark Cowan, one of the minds behind the incredible Darth Vader hallway scene in Rogue One. Emanuel explained:
"So I introduced Leslye to a guy called Chris Clark Cowan, who was our action designer, and part of the team who worked on the Darth Vader sequence in Rogue One. Leslye and Chris completely fell in love, and action became such a component of this story. For me, it's the best action the franchise has seen—and there's so much of it."
This description of The Acolyte's fighting sequences and the origins of the show's approach both bode extremely well for the show.

Star Wars: The Acolyte - Cast, Story Details & Everything We Know
The Star Wars show The Acolyte will take the franchise into the grand High Republic era, but what mysteries await in the Jedi’s golden age?
Vader's Hallway Scene Was One Of Disney Star Wars' Best Moments...
Can It Be Beaten?
The comments from Simon Emanuel regarding The Acolyte's action sequences are certainly thrilling, but Vader's hallway scene in Rogue One does pose some pretty tough competition. Immediately following Rogue One's release, the scene was hailed as a success, with many seeing it as one of Star Wars' best scenes. In light of that, it might prove difficult for The Acolyte to truly beat the scene in of action.
However, Emanuel seemed confident that The Acolyte will include some of the best action sequences in Star Wars, which is exciting. Star Wars' fight scenes, particularly lightsaber battles such as the one between Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, are undoubtedly some of Star Wars' best scenes. Given that, it's clear action is highly celebrated in the franchise (and not always present).
It's also encouraging to see that The Acolyte is drawing from other Star Wars successes for the show. While new perspectives and ideas can lead to incredible innovations, as Star Wars has demonstrated throughout its long history, it seems a very positive sign that The Acolyte team was actively seeking the assistance of those who had already contributed meaningfully to Star Wars in other projects. The Acolyte seems perfectly positioned to incorporate the best of the past and the future of Star Wars, which is befitting of the show.
The Acolyte seems perfectly positioned to incorporate the best of the past and the future of Star Wars.
As a story that must connect the High Republic Era to the events of the prequel trilogy, The Acolyte has a somewhat difficult task. However, updates such as this one reveal that the team behind The Acolyte is being quite thoughtful about the decisions they make for the show and its connection to the larger franchise. With Star Wars: The Acolyte's June 4th, 2024, release date just around the corner, the wait is almost over to see if these action sequences meet (or exceed) expectations.
