Marvel Comics and Star Wars have officially announced a brand-new era of storytelling for the galaxy far, far away with new comics set after Return of the Jedi. Since 2020, most of Marvel's canonical comics have been set in the aftermath of The Empire Strikes Back and just before the final movie in the original trilogy. Now, Marvel is preparing to bring this current era to a close before launching new tales in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Endor.

Revealed by Marvel Comics on X, new post-Return of the Jedi comics are coming beginning in October. In the meantime, the current era of comics is set to end with both Star Wars #50 and Darth Vader #50, both of which are rapidly approaching by the end of the summer. Check out the new teaser image below, featuring the burnt remains of Darth Vader's helmet (which will one day come into the possession of his grandson, Kylo Ren):

While this new Darth Vader image by artist Rod Reis is exciting, Marvel Comics has also offered a look at a new series beyond what will likely be a relaunched Star Wars #1 in October.

Post-ROTJ Comics Can Reveal A Lot About The Greater Star Was Canon

Like How Kylo Ren Got Vader's Mask

Darth Vader's mask as seen in Star Wars The Force Awakens

ittedly, Star Wars has revealed some stories that took place after Return of the Jedi. This notably includes the Shattered Empire miniseries, the Aftermath trilogy of novels, as well as the story campaign from EA's Battlefront II. However, plenty of tales can still be told, especially about Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo.

Marvel's Star Wars can also reveal how Kylo Ren eventually gets his hands on his grandfather's mask. Furthermore, more can still be revealed about Operation: Cinder, otherwise known as Palpatine's brutal posthumous contingency against the galaxy in the event of his death. All in all, Marvel's next era of Star Wars storytelling should prove to be just as exciting as the current one.
