There's already a perfect actress to play Star Wars' best TV shows, there's still more of her story to tell. Sadly, though, that will require a recast.
Whereas The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett were able to bring Luke Skywalker back to the Star Wars screen with the help of Mark Hamill (along with stand-in actor Max Lloyd-Jones and some de-aging technology), Carrie Fisher's devastating ing in 2016 makes that impossible for Leia. To continue bringing her back, Star Wars must instead focus its attentions on a full-fledged recast. While doing so would no doubt prove controversial, Star Wars already has the perfect actress to play Leia Organa, and the actress is fully on board with the possibility.
There's So Much More Star Wars Could Do With Princess Leia
Some Of Leia's Best Stories Haven't Yet Been Told
It's true that the Skywalker family tree has dominated Star Wars for decades, and some may feel that the franchise needs to move away from them and look elsewhere for stories. I agree that Star Wars should focus on more than just the Skywalkers, or the Jedi and the Sith, but I don't believe that needs to be at the expense of exploring stories that haven't yet been shown on screen. Shows like Andor have proven how much more there is to the galaxy far, far away, but there's still so much left to explore about Leia.
For one, Star Wars still hasn't depicted some of the most important years of Leia's life on the screen, including her involvement in the Imperial Senate when she was very young. This also overlapped with Leia's participation in rebel activity, as she, like her father Bail Organa, was secretly playing both sides to help the Rebellion overthrow the Empire. While that was very briefly touched upon in Star Wars Rebels, it deserves a more substantive arc. This alone would be a fascinating era to explore—but it would require a teenage Leia Organa.

Vivien Lyra Blair Has Expressed Interest—And Is The Perfect Choice
After Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Young Leia Actress Remains Interested In Star Wars
While this may seem like a far-fetched idea, Leia Organa actress Vivien Lyra Blair, who played young Leia in Obi-Wan Kenobi, is very interested in taking on this role. Per Collider, Blair recently explained:
"I almost feel like it could be really fun to do some sort of a teenage Leia. I've said it in a few interviews, and I've had some people be like, 'No, don't need it.' Yes, we do. We need less male-centric Star Wars. We need more women because we need a strong female Star Wars Universe. I love that. So, I think it could be actually really fun. I really enjoyed how they did Skeleton Crew of almost like a Goonies/Stranger Things-esque show that was definitely for teens, but it was centered around Star Wars, and I think it could be really cool to do something like that, emulating some sort of teen show but with characters that we know, like Leia. Something almost like The Summer I Turned Pretty, XO, Kitty-esque show where it's almost a high school romance kind of show but with Leia on the Junior Senate. I think it would be difficult to execute with proper writing, but it could be really fun to do something like that and really bring in more of that type of audience."
This idea, with Blair playing a teenage Leia in the Junior Senate, is absolutely perfect and would feel like a natural continuation of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi left things quite clear (no doubt intentionally) that Leia and Obi-Wan do not see one another again until A New Hope, but that would not have to be a part of this next Leia story whatsoever. Instead, a show with Blair could focus on Leia's family life with Bail and Breha Organa, her growing level of awareness regarding the evils of the Empire and the seeds of the Rebellion, and her role in the Junior Senate. This could also provide more insight into her relationship with her parents, making their demise in A New Hope even more profound.

Ahsoka Season 2 Means It's Finally Time To Recast Princess Leia
Carrie Fisher's untimely ing changed how Star Wars approached Leia Organa's character. Could Ahsoka season 2 bring Leia back? Should it?
Star Wars Already Has The Source Material For Leia's Story To Continue
One Star Wars Book In Particular Is The Perfect Story For Vivien Lyra Blair
Star Wars would not even have to look very far to find the perfect source material for this proposed story. The canon Star Wars novel, Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan, written by Claudia Gray, centers on Leia at 16 years old—the age at which she must dedicate herself to one day claiming the throne of Alderaan and prove herself worthy. On this journey, as Leia becomes more involved in politics and humanitarian work, she uncovers some of what her parents have been doing in the shadows throughout the Dark Times.

Unsurprisingly, given A New Hope, Leia then becomes fully engaged in rebel activities, entering into politics and, eventually, the Rebellion in her own right. Leia's age when this story occurs would be absolutely perfect for Vivien Lyra Blair, as she will be around that age in just a few years. This would give Star Wars ample time to get the project underway and (as Blair herself indicated) get the story and the writing just right. While it's unclear whether Star Wars would ever recast Princess Leia Organa in this way, it's a thrilling prospect and a brilliant plan.
