That second DLC, along with a release date for the previously confirmed Star Wars Outlaws Switch 2 port, were confirmed today, according to Video Games Chronicle. A Pirate's Fortune will be released on May 15 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players, and the base game will come to Switch 2 on September 4 of this year. There's been no official word yet on whether either DLC will be available for the Switch 2 at launch, or whether Ubisoft intends to port them to the handheld at a later date.

What To Expect From Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune DLC

A New Adventure With Familiar Faces

Before we even get to A Pirate's Fortune, Star Wars Outlaws has another major release that's already available: a free, three-hour demo for the game, which can be ed today from any of the platforms where Star Wars Outlaws is playable. It's intended to become a permanent fixture on all digital game storefronts. The demo will take players through a section of the main campaign, but progress won't be transferrable to the full game.

Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2 Will Be An Interesting Port

A Point Of Comparison

Nintendo Switch 2 Docked And Handheld

Star Wars Outlaws is one of several major third-party titles coming to the Switch 2, including, rumor has it, GTA 6. It's an attempt to show off the console's greater processing power compared to the original Switch, and so far, it's made for an impressive lineup. Still, we don't know at this early stage how any of these games will perform, and the release of Star Wars Outlaws for the platform will be very telling.

Somewhat uniquely among Switch 2 ports, Outlaws is a PC/PS5/Xbox Series X/S exclusive - not a cross-generational release. It's not necessarily the most graphically demanding game, but it's up there: it has a pretty big open world, and things can get chaotic during its gunfights and space battles. It'll be interesting to see how it runs on the handheld, and an important benchmark for how other, similarly big games might compare.

Either way, it's set to be a big year for Kay Vess, with another DLC coming this spring and a Switch 2 port to follow. It'll only be a few weeks before Star Wars Outlaws is bigger and better than ever before, and a few months before it has a chance to reach a whole new audience.
